The Union Health Ministry of India announced on Monday that Covid-19 recoveries in the country have surpassed 23 Lakh, and are now more than three times the active cases undergoing treatment, in addition, the fatality rate - that has been falling over the past weeks - stands now at 1.85%.

Following the recovery of 57,469 Covid-19 patients, the total recoveries tally has reached 2,338,035, achieving a recovery rate of 75.27% which is over three times the active cases in India.

The ministry indicated that the achievement came about as a result of the implementation of an aggressive testing policy, comprehensive tracking and surveillance, contact-tracing, and efficient treatment provided by medical personnel.

The ministry said in a statement "Those in home isolation, being medically supervised and monitored, are also recovering at a fast pace", before adding "Effective clinical management of the patients in the ICUs has been instrumental in keeping the case fatality rate low and on a steady downward trajectory. It has further dipped 1.85% today".

The ministry also shed light on the important role played by the national "e-ICU on Covid-19 management" which is held by AIIMS on Tuesdays and Fridays to answer the ICU doctors' queries and share knowledge related to the treatment of Covid-19, in achieving these major steps in the country's battle with coronavirus.
