On Thursday, the Republican National Convention came to a close and saw President Donald Trump proudly accept his party’s nomination to be their presidential candidate in the November elections. The president will seek re-election as he goes up against the Democrat candidate Joe Biden, and currently lags behind his opponent in the polls, in a great part due to Trump’s perceived mishandling of the coronavirus pandemic.

During the final night, there were several motivational speeches made, including Ben Johnson, the first African-American member of Trump's cabinet, and Alice Johnson, but there was also a fiery contribution from the president’s eldest daughter and senior advisor, Ivanka Trump.

What did Ivanka Trump say?

The president’s daughter stepped onto the stage to Elton John’s ‘I’m Still Standing’ and delivered a speech in which she encouraged the American people to get out and vote for her father, and tried to assure them that he would always be fighting for them and a better America.

"Four years ago I told you I would fight alongside my father, and four years later, here I am," Ivanka proclaimed in front of hundreds of supporters on the White House South Lawn.

The reflection on the last four years of work coming to fruition was a constant point of reference during her 15-minute talk.

"Four years ago in Cleveland I said President Trump would deliver for working women," was followed by, “four years ago I told you my father would focus on making childcare affordable and accessible.”

An emotional push for daddy

It was, understandably, a monologue to big-up the current incumbent of the Oval Office - and it was her father after all - so much of it was personal and emotional.

“Dad, people attack you for being unconventional, but I love you for being real, and I respect you for being effective,” she said. “Our President refuses to surrender his beliefs to score points with the political elite," she continued without even a glimpse of a smirk.

To my father, you are the elite.” she proudly claimed. “He only cares about scoring points with you.”

Listen to the full speech from Ivanka Trump and make your own mind up about how much of it felt like rewriting of a history already lived through. How many voters will forget the reality?
