Amazon Prime Day 2020 is taking place on 13 and 14 October, with 48 hours of deals on electronics, home appliances, fashion, sporting goods, outdoor gear, entertainment and more.

Prime Day runs through two days for Prime members in the U.S., U.K, U.A.E, Spain, Singapore, Netherlands, Mexico, Luxembourg, Japan, Italy, Germany, France, China, Canada, Belgium, Austria and Australia.

Amazon launched Prime Day in 2015 as a one-day shopping event. Prime Day has since expanded to include 48 hours of deals, with only Amazon Prime members getting access. Some items are already available discounted even before Prime Day officially starts. Amazon’s flagship sales bonanza has traditionally taken place in mid-July, but was pushed back several months due to the covid-19 pandemic.

There are lots of interesting deals, from top brands including Panasonic, Keurig, Under Armour, Coleman, Simple Joys by Carter’s, Adidas, Lacoste, Marvel and many more.

How to get Amazon Prime for free

Do I need to be an Amazon Prime member to shop the deals? The answer is yes. Membership also includes free two-day shipping on many of the items on Amazon, and in certain zip codes free same-day delivery.

If you’re not an Amazon Prime member, you can get a 30-day free trial right now which will get you access in time for Prime Day. When the free trial is over, members will be charged $119/year for an annual membership and $59/year for an annual Student membership.

To sign up, you will need to have an e-mail or phone number and a current, valid credit card. While you will not be charged for your free trial, you will be automatically upgraded to a paid membership plan at the end of the trial period.

Tips to get the best offers

- Sign up to Prime

As previously mentioned, to get access you need to sign up for Prime.

- Download the Amazon app

Last year deals were revealed up to a week early on the Amazon app so it’s well worth a download for a sneak peek at discounts, with an option to set an alert for when they go live too.

- Get the deals when they are hot

Many of the best Prime Day deals are only of limited quantity and for a set amount of time. It is therefore worth checking regularly for new deals, the best ones usually sell out quickly.

- Get $13 for supporting small businesses

Amazon has launched a new initiative this year supporting small businesses – Prime members who spend $13 on small businesses on the Amazon site will receive $13 credit to spend on Prime Day.

Can I return items bought on Prime Day?

Absolutely. You have the right to return a faulty product whether it was bought at full price or not and you can cancel orders within 14 days of receiving the item.

You can return products within 30 days of purchase under their Voluntary Returns Policy as long as items are unused and undamaged. Amazon, though, does not cover the cost of returns if the item is not faulty.
