Will Donald Trump accept Joe Biden's clear win in the 2020 US presidential elections and concede to his democratic rival? Barring a complete, miraculous u-turn, the answer is no.

The majority of media outlets called the election for Biden based on the votes reported this Saturday morning, with the key state to be called for Biden being Pennsylvania. Those 20 electoral college votes puts Biden over the 270 needed to take the White House, no matter whether Arizona had been called for Biden or not (AP and Fox called Arizona fairly early for Biden, while many other outlets such as CNN did not).

Can Donald Trump barricade the White House and refuse to leave?

Trump: no concessions on election

Despite the fact the election result is clear, Donald Trump appears very, very far away from giving a concession speech. In fact, just two hours ago, in his last tweet on that matter at the date of publication, he screamed: "I WON THIS ELECTION, BY A LOT". Concession, not so much.

He also published a statement on the election result, saying Biden was "rushing to falsely pose as the winner" and saying the "election is far from over". Trump also mentioned the legal challenges that his campaign is bringing in a number of states.

"Beginning Monday, our campaign will start prosecuting our case in court to ensure election laws are fully upheld and the rightful winner is seated. The American People are entitled to an honest election: that means counting all legal ballots, and not counting any illegal ballots," the statement reads.

It should be noted that experts have made clear that there is no evidence of any widespread voter fraud in the election.

Trump family look to convince Donald to go

Sources inside the White House have suggested that his inner circle are looking at ways to convince Trump to accept the election result, with daughter Ivanka allegedly being lined up to try and talk the current president into understanding that he did indeed lose the election and that there is no legal route to try and challenge the outcome.

Will Trump ever accept Biden's win?

It appears clear that Trump is going to continue legal challenges for as long as he can, but given the apparent lack of any evidence of wrongdoing or fraud at the election, there is no way his challenges will prosper in the courts.

Under the election rules in the US, once the states have certified their results Biden will officially be the president elect. But don't expect Trump to accept that fact at that point... or ever. Given his well-known character, or lack of it, it would come as no surprise if Trump leaves the White House having never accepted he was beaten and having never given a speech or statement conceding defeat.
