“América has better players, but in a knock-out, anything can happen”

On Wednesday Chivas defeated Club América with a single goal from Cristian Calderón at the Akron Stadium for the first leg of the quarter-finals of the Liga MX. Tonight they will play the second leg at the Azteca stadium and Club América has to overcome the one goal deficit to advance to the semifinals.

“América has better players”

Prior to this match, one of the legends in the story of Mexican football, Cuauhtémoc Blanco, gave his opinion about what could happen in tonight's game. “In a game of this magnitude, anything can happen…

...It is clear that América has better players and they should leave everything on the pitch in order to advance to the semifinals. They have to be aware of Antuna and Brizuela because if Chivas scores a goal it will be difficult to qualify,” said Blanco during an interview with TUDN.

With one goal from América I think it would be enough to qualify. The first leg was very intermittent and I believe Chivas was slightly better. Also I didn’t see a lot of passion in that game like in other occasions,” he added.
