Real Madrid qualified for the knock-out phases of the Champions League 2020/21 with a convincing 2-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach in the Spanish capital. And they will be in pot 1 in Monday's draw, having won the group.

Here's the Real Madrid players's ratings in the win over Borussia Monchengladbach

Courtois

The Belgian keeper hasn't had many nights as relaxed as this one recently, although when he was called into acton he did what he had to, notably saving an effort from Thuram after 11 minutes. Solid under the high ball and his second consecutive clean sheet. 7/10

Lucas Vázquez

Ninth game this season at right back and he might have been there all his life. Solid in defence, coping with the difficult Thuram, and constantly dangerous going forward. He set up the opener with a pinpoint cross, hit the post in the 77th minute and put another one on Benzema's plate late on that the Frenchman wasted. 9/10

Varane

Decisive and efficient from the start, his one major mistake gave Monchengladbach their chance in the 11th minute. 7/10

Sergio Ramos

Coming back from injury the Real Madrid captain played well, though at times, particularly tonight, it's more about how he lifts the team than his performance with the ball. He was dangerous when pushing forward and nearly scored in the 73rd minute. 7.5/10

Mendy

Marked his man out of the game and regularly appeared high up the pitch. In the second half though he needlessly tried to do to much with the ball. 7/10

Modric

All the kids want to be centre-forwards and score goals, until they see a first-half like that from the Croatian magician and change their minds. An exhibition of organisation, brains, distribution, presence... an exhibition of football. Sommer and the post denied him a goal and an offside from Varane another, but it doesn't really matter. This week 89% of this paper's readers backed him getting a new deal - ask the question again tonight and it would be 100%. 10/10

Casemiro

Nicked the ball at the start of the move that led to the opener, but generally made too many mistakes with the ball tonight. 5/10

Kroos

Another silent recital of sublime football. For how good he is, people don't talk about him much. Sommer denied him Madrid's third. 9/10

Rodrygo (subbed after 74')

Put in a shift defending and still managed to be decisive in attack. Provided a number of fine balls to his partners up front and nearly scored the third with a drive in the 69th minute. He's got that certain something, and it tends to come out best in the Champions League, where he's got six goals and four assists in 591 minutes. Pure Real Madrid. 8/10

Benzema

Back on the score sheet after two goalless games, he nodded home two fine headers. Four in the Champions League, eight this season. He should have had a hat trick, but hit the bar after 73' and then found Sommer's hands in the 90th minute. 9/10

Vinicius (subbed after 74')

Willing, hard-working and enthusiastic, but mostly ineffective. 5/10

Asensio (came on in 74')

Did very little.

Arribas (came on in 74')

Started off in the Champions League with a nutmeg, showing the skills we'll no doubt see in the future.
