Update:
Robben recalls his one-on-one with Casillas in the World Cup final

Many remember it as the turning point in the 2010 World Cup final between Spain and the Netherlands in South Africa. It was goalless, approaching minute 62 during a tense and evenly-fought game in Johannesburg when Arjen Robben found himself with a free run at goal and just Iker Casillas to beat. Robben and Casillas knew each other well - the Dutch winger had spent two seasons as team mates with the goalkeeper Iker at Real Madrid. For those watching, it looked to be a certain goal…

Robben, along with Iker, Xavi, Iniesta and Puyol, who were in the Spain side that day, recalled the pivotal moment of the game in the latest episode of the Iker Casillas documentary for Movistar+ ‘Colgar las Alas’.

Xavi: The whole country was watching, and when Robben gets the ball and is free in a one-against-one, you think…

Iniesta: I was directly facing our goal. I could see the whole move head-on.

Puyol: I was just running towards goal because you never know what could happen – but you fear the worst…

Iniesta: You’re just hoping, ‘Iker, Iker…’

Xavi: If they had scored from that move I don’t think we would have won the final.

And the rest, as they say, is history…
