On the Ramos penalty decision, Carvajal admits that the rules aren't clear even to the players but as he says, some are given, some are not, and on this occasion the rub of the green went Madrid's way. Eibar deserved a point and few beyond the Bernabéu would have begrudged them one after that performance.
And that's the final kick of the game! The ref blows to bring a thoroughly entertaining match to an end.
A one-two with Benzema and the winger is through and he plants a shot into the far corner on the run to seal the three points! What a finish and that is harsh on Eibar, who had the equaliser on Bigas' boot just a minute ago.
Two minutes added.
Ramos! Bigas is through and bearing down on goal but Ramos comes flying from out of nowhere and puts in a perfect tackle to deny the Eibar man! That needed to be inch-perfect as well.
Flag up against Asensio and Eibar will thump this one long... and it's straight into the arms of Courtois.
Courtois lumps it to the far end and Eibar concede a throw.
Rodrigues on Casemiro again and Madrid have a free kick that they won't take in a hurry...
Eibar pressing and pressing but an attempted cross is far too close to Courtois, who barely has to move to pluck it from the air.
Madrid are back defending in numbers now as Eibar pump the ball forward at every opportunity.
Not given! It was a ball that clipped his elbow from Muto's header but the match officials made the right decision there.
10 minutes left and Eibar are still pressing for the equaliser. Both sides are absolutely shattered and mistakes are starting to creep in at both ends.
Almost bang on 200k covered by both sides combined.
Rodrigues clips Carvajal in midfield as both sides start to feel the effects of such a frantic game. Lots of tired challenges and mishits now.
Asensio replaced Rodrygo at the same time as Valverde entered the fray.
Asensio! The Madrid winger had just come on and he sends the ball just wide of the post!
Valverde has a rough introduction to the action as Arbilla varves him down on the edge of the area... free kick to Madrid.
Changes from both sides, Modric off for Valverde and former Madrid midfielder Pedro León on for the hosts.
Muto! Just over from the Japan forward from Kike's lovely ball from the left. So close again for Eibar who deserve to draw level here.
Benzema sniffs goal from Casemiro's over-the-top ball but Dmitrovic is out to gather the danger.
Dmitrovic! The Eibar keeper makes a fine save from Rodrygo, who was put through by Kroos' glorious reverse ball. This is top quality football from both sides.
It's a completely open game now with the midfield hardly necessary. Eibar go up one end, Madrid break down the other, and back it goes again. There must be some changes coming up because both sides have covered some serious ground.
Mendy! Gil is almost away but the France defender thunders across to make a vital, last-ditch tackle!
Carvajal! What a run from the defender, who picks the ball up in his own half and drives down the right with Benzema and Rodrygo waiting. Having done all the hard work though, he thumps his cross into the first available Eibar defender.
Muto! The Japan forward has a pop from distance and he puts his laces through it but the ball whistles just over the bar.
Ramos this time is up to head clear as Eibar seek to hit from the left flank.
Inui! What a clanger from Ramos! The Madrid captain plays the ball straight across his own area and the Japan forward nicks in to take advantage but scuffs his shot with only Courtois to beat! What a let-off for the visitors.
Benzema, who really is in the form of his life, is back to clear the danger at the other end as well.
Eibar enjoying a decent period of possession and Diop lets fly! Courtois makes a decent stop at his near post and the home side have a corner...
Rodrygo! Another sweeping move from Madrid and Mendy finds the Brazilian unattended in the area. His shot is deflected behind for a corner, which Madrid fail to make count and Eibar have a goal kick.
It takes three Madrid players to bundle Gil off the ball as the teenager goes marauding down the left again.
Benzema! Another wonderful touch, a turn, and the Frenchman places his shot but it's just wide... and he was marginally offside when he receieved the ball.
Back underway!
The players coming back out now for the second half. It can't possibly be as crazy as the first, can it?
Incredibly there were only five shots on target in the first half... it felt like a few more than that. Madrid bossing possession but Eibar making their forays forward count with both sides managing five attempts each.
And breathe.... what a 45 minutes! The ref blows for half time with Madrid still 2-1 up in a game that could have been 6-3 by now.
Arbilla! Vázquez runs on to a flick from the halfway line and beats the onrushing Dmitrovic but the Spanish defender is there to make a sliding intervention!
Another wicked free kick from Gil and Madrid enjoy a slice of luck as it deflects into the gloves of Courtois. The 19-year-old has magic in that left boot of his.
Ramos takes and it's not far away but we fancy Dmitrovic had that covered as it scoots over the bar.
And a booking for the Eibar defender.
Free kick for Madrid right on the edge of the area as Arbilla handles a Modric flick.
Eibar so close to the equaliser! Gil drives in from the left and finds Muto, whose effort clips Varane's boot and spoons just wide of the far stick with Courtois rooted to the spot.
Replays confirm the Benzema offside, but it was a matter of a centimetre or two, tops. Fair play to the lino for spotting it.
Vázquez! Mendy delivers a perfect cross, cutting out three defenders, and all the winger has to do is get a stud to it but he can't quite launch his boot far enough. This is frantic, end-to-end mayhem!
Gooooo.... nope, offside! Benzema sneaks in with a glorious touch in mid-air and clips the ball with the outside of his boot but the flag is up.
Courtois! A three-touch move puts Muto in and the Belgian stopper had to be quick to that one.
Oooooooh, Muto was almost through there from a flick-on with naught between him and Courtois but he was just, just offside. Eibar have got their tails up now.
Another Madrid move creates an opening but Carvajal's first touch is a bit heavy and Dmitrovic gathers.
What a strike from the Eibar captain! He picks it up on the edge of the area, spins on a sixpence to buy a yard and drives a glorious effort into the top corner! Unstoppable from García and Eibar are back in it!
Goodness... Madrid clear to Benzema and the Frenchman is at the heart of a wonderful break. Kroos brings the ball down for Rodrygo and Dmitrovic makes a great save! The flag was up but that was devastating from the visitors.
Corner for the home side... here come the big lads.
Pozo lobs a cross into the area but it's bread and butter for Courtois.
Movement on the Eibar bench already... what has old campaigner Mendilibar got up his sleeve to get a foothold in the game?
Bffffff... but it's skied by Arbilla. Courtois simply has to watch it head for the top of the stands.
The home side have a dangerous looking free-kick on the edge of the area... chance to pull one back.
That is an indication of what Eibar are up against... a Gil free-kick is whipped in in a way that normally would have created panic in the Madrid defence but it's cleared with two or three passes snapped inside the area.
Benzema! Another crisp Madrid move culminates in Modric teeing up the striker and he has a free header from about a metre out but somehow misses the far post! That was the third there, in a gift-wrapped box.
Lucas Vázquez's pressure pays off as Benzema picks up the ball on the Madrid right and the Frenchman lays it off to Modric, who belts a cracking shot into the top of the net from just inside the area!
Eibar are chasing shadows at the moment. It's been a while since Madrid have moved the ball about with this kind of zip.
Madrid knocking it from side to side with precision now and Eibar are on the back foot.
That's not the start Eibar would have wanted but they can take some consolation from Madrid enjoying the rub of the green there. Still, 1-0 down against Zidane's side is never a great place to be for any team.
Dmitrovic! Decent save from the Eiber keeper as Modric lets loose from outside the area.
Rodrygo lifts a ball over the defence and the Frenchman controls beautifully. His shot is scuffed and clips Dmitrovic but loops off the keeper into the net and Madrid have the lead!
It's a solid set-up from Eibar, who are back in two blocks when they don't have the ball and harrying Madrid high up the pitch in the opposition half.
Long possession for Madrid but a loose ball from Kroos rolls harmlessly back to Eibar and the home side have a throw out on the right.
Inui! It was an awkward one but it forced Courtois to trap the ball on his line as the Japanese winger's long-range lob looped goalwards.
We're off! Real Madrid get the ball rolling!

The teams are in the tunnel and we're about to get going in Ipurua!
We're quite excited about 19-year-old Bryan Gil, who has some eye-catching stats in LaLiga this season: second in terms of crosses attempted and fifth in terms of overall chances created.
The players are out and warming up at Ipurua. Plenty of ammo on the Madrid bench, with Asensio, Mariano and Jovic all available if Zidance needs to chase a goal.
Rodrygo's secret, the youngster that lives for Real Madrid
Zidane has been reluctant to use Rodrygo in LaLiga this season but the young Brazilian's record in Europe is quite astonishing...
Real Madrid starting XI confirmed
Nothing to see here from Zidane in Ipurua, who has his first-choice back line and midfield available. Lucas Vázquez is back on the right wing after a solid stint at full back and perhaps the only small surprise is the inclusion of Rodrygo, who is usually reserved to score vital Champions League goals.
Eibar starting XI confirmed
Mendilibar has gone with Muto and Kike García up top with the in-form Bryan Gil and Inui both also starting to wreak some havoc from out wide.
Eibar have beaten Madrid, both recently and thoroughly - a 3-0 drubbing handed out to the visitors on 24 November, 2018. That game does with an asterisk of a sort - *Solari - but the side contained at least eight players that will probably start this evening.
Eibar vs Real Madrid: Preview, team news, possible XIs
Madrid go into this game on a decent run of form after a bit of a wobble in November. Zidane's side have beaten Sevilla (2-1), Borussia Monchengladbach (2-0), Atlético Madrid (2-0) and Athletic Bilbao (3-1) in the space of a couple of weeks.
Eibar do have their weapons though and two players to watch this evening are Bryan Gil and on-loan Newcastle and Japan forward Yoshinori Muto. although the latter may start on the bench with his compatriot Takashi Inui likely to partner Kike García up top.
Mendilibar has a considerably longer list of absentees with José Ángel, Cote, Rober Correa, Sergi Enrich, Quique González, and Estaban Burgos all missing this one.
Zidane will be without Vinicius, Eden Hazard and the little-used Isco in Vitoria but has recovered a number of players in comparison to the barren days of November when the Frenchman could barely field a defence.
That said, Eibar certainly prefer playing away. Mendilibar's side are yet to win a game at home this season with four draws and three defeats so far. However, they don't give anything away lightly and have only conceded five at Ipurua. The problem for the home side is goals: they have scored only one in seven fixtures to date.
José Luis Mendilibar's side have turned into the masters of the draw this season, managing six from 13 games so far. Four of their last five games have either been 1-1 or 0-0 and the Basques haven't been beaten since October 30.
Zinedine Zidane's side meanwhile are hovering over Real Sociedad's shoulder and will leapfrog the txuri-urdin into second place if they are victorious, pulling level with their city rivals Atlético following the derby win last weekend.

This is the final game of the matchweek with no Monday fixture this week so we have a pretty decent idea of the lie of the land before kick-off. Eibar are in 14th and will jump into the top 10 with victory over Real Madrid on home turf.
