Update:
Khalifa International Stadium reinforces Qatar's national vision

Khalifa International Stadium is one of the most famous and oldest stadiums in Qatar, which will become the first country in the Middle East to host the FIFA World Cup in 2022.

The stadium represents the sports legacy of the State of Qatar, and the area surrounding the stadium includes world-class sports facilities that contribute to achieving the Qatar National Vision 2030 aimed at promoting the practice of sport in the community. Khalifa International Stadium is located in the Sports City in Doha, within the Aspire Zone, the most important sports center in Qatar due to its abundance of facilities.

In 2017, the World Cup venue was the first of the eight World Cup-designated stadiums to be inaugurated, with its location being in an area that differs in nature from the rest of the regions of the Qatari capital. The area includes the Aspire Academy, open-air green spaces for the practice of sports, the Aspetar orthopedic and sports medicine hospital, the Qatar Anti-Doping Lab, the Hamad Aquatic Centre, as well as shopping and entertainment facilities.

Khalifa International Stadium has a capacity of 40,000 fans and was inaugurated before the final match of the Emir of Qatar Cup in 2017 to become the first stadium completed by the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (the body responsible for projects and initiatives for the FIFA World Cup), after having been renovated to comply with FIFA standards with respect to the stadiums designated to host the 2022 World Cup matches in Qatar. The process was supervised by the Aspire Zone, the same supervisory body that has overseen the establishment of the Al Bayt Stadium.
