Very entertaining first 45 with Liverpool just about good value for their lead. Worrying with Dier and Kane appearing to be struggling with knocks for the Londoners and Son needs to get on the ball more for Spurs as the South Korean is a major, major threat. 

The whistle sounds and its the visitors lead as we take a break. 

Mane breaks and fires across the goal mouth with an easy finish for the Brazilian striker. 

Milner crosses and Mane fails to direct his header on target as Liverpool probe now in the added time. Spurs defending deeply now and one feels that it will be Jurgen Klopp the happier of the two managers as we head towards the break.

We'll have 4 minutes of time given the series of stoppages in the first half. 

Mane almost opens the scoring as once again Lloris is on hand to repel the shot. Liverpool have created the better of the chances in this bright first half.

Salah breaks well after a slip-up from Doherty but the Egyptian striker fails to pick out Mane with his less favoured right foot.

Doherty wins a corner and has been impressive at left back despite the reservations of Spurs fans pre-game. 

There is a sense of danger for Liverpool each time Son picks up the ball and is given space to run.

Gary's enjoying it and indeed it is a bright game with chances at both ends.

Liverpool now on top and the side carving out the better chances. Spurs sitting deep and it's the men in red with the initative.

Mane goes close and the effort forces Lloris into action as he gets down well to grasp the effort from the Senegalese striker. 

Firmino strikes but his right footed drive is straight at Lloris as Spurs spring and move the ball to the other goal mouth and this time Alisson is level to the Son effort.

Son goes to ground and appeals half-heartedly for a penalty after he felt he was impeded by Matip. Play waved on by the match official.

Constant pressure from Liverpool but the move breaks down with a mis-placed Mane pass. Much better from the visitors now as they regain possession and build with patience. 

Kane is back on his feet but certainly looks somewaht tentative as play resumes. 

Kane clipped by Thiago and the England captain is still on the pitch in some pain. Play held up and Spurs fans hoping that's it's not the ankle that has troubled the striker in the past. 

Nice combination from Kane, Son as Doherty just overhits a through ball with Alisson gathering well.

Plenty of pace to the game with Liverpool starting to ease their way into the action as Mane almost finds Firmino. 

Despite the goal not standing, the execution from Son was wonderful, all the hallmarks of a player full of confidence.

Mourinho not expecting Alli to leave in January

Jose Mourinho does not expect Dele Alli to leave the club in the January transfer window despite the out-of-favour midfielder being linked with a loan move to Paris St Germain.

The England international has made just four Premier League appearances this season, three as a substitute, and the 24-year-old has been criticised by Mourinho on several occasions.

Reports in British media have linked Alli with a move to PSG to reunite with former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, who took charge of the Ligue 1 champions earlier this month, but Mourinho did not see a move happening before the window shuts.

"I expect (him to be here) and I'm saying that since the beginning of the window. I wasn't expecting anyone to leave or expecting anyone to come" stated the Portuguese.

Manchester City are beginning to look ominously in the sort of groove that helped them claim back-to-back titles before Liverpool knocked them off their perch last season and both Mourinho and Klopp will want to ensure that Guardiola's men don't begin to pull away from the pack.

Concern among the Spurs fraternity via social media with the news that Matt Doherty will start for the North London outfit at left back this evening.

The winner in North London tonight can oust in-form West Ham out of fourth position. 

There is a worry for Jurgen Klopp with the 'Reds' having not found the net in the league in the past month, the German coach feels that too many people were "losing trust and faith" in his attacking trio of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino far too quickly for his liking.

Liverpool are winless in five Premier League games and currently sit fifth in the table and seven points behind Manchester City.

The last time these two sides met they were first and second in the league but Spurs have also endured a slump to sit one point behind Liverpool with a game in hand.

Spurs head into tonight's game having enjoyed a 4-1 win over Wycombe Wanderers in the FA Cup on Monday last with Klopp's men having been dumped out in the fourth round by Manchester United in a 3-2 thriller at Old Trafford.
