Kansas City Chiefs: Mahomes can be as influential as LeBron, says Reid
Speaking ahead of Super Bowl LV, Kansas City Chiefs boss Andy Reid said he believes quarterback Patrick Mahomes can be as influential as NBA star LeBron James.
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes can be as influential as LeBron James and impact the world, says the NFL franchise's head coach Andy Reid.
Los Angeles Lakers star James has helped lead the fight for racial equality and social justice.
Mahomes "understands people", says Chiefs boss Reid
Reid believes Mahomes, who is preparing for the Chiefs' Super Bowl LV clash against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, can be as influential as the four-time NBA champion and four-time MVP.
"Yeah, absolutely. I think he's got a way about him where he understands people and they are interested in things he has to say, or back, and believe in," he told a news conference on Tuesday.
"So, I think that presents yourself with a good combination to whatever platform that you want to support or take, that you have that ability."
LeBron a sports star I try to take after, says Mahomes
Mahomes has already won a Super Bowl to go with a Super Bowl MVP and NFL MVP honours.
The 25-year-old said James was one of the athletes he had modelled himself on. "There's a lot of great athletes that are doing things the right way. LeBron is one of them. He's someone that I can talk to and get advice from but there's others too," Mahomes said.
"There's a ton of people that are using their voice to make a difference in this world. I try and take from them and kind of use my own voice in my own way to make an impact in my community."
