She Believes Cup 2021: USA 2-0 Brazil

A solid performance from the US who were always able to keep Brazil at bay after the 11th minute goal from Manchester United striker Press. Sub Rapinoe broke Brazilian hearts with a late second and the US move to six points and a commanding lead at the top of the She Believes Cup 2021 table.

The whistle sounds in Orlando and the USWNT secure another three points in their quest to retain their She Believes crown.

Surely that goal wraps up maximum points for the US. Brazil have simply been unable to carve a way past the navy blue wall.

Three minutes of additional time to be added.

Gooooooooooollll. Megan Rapinoe does put the contest volleying home to make it 2

Great chance for Smith to put the game beyond doubt but the Thorns player over complicates things and Brazil clear the danger

Change for Brazil: Ludmila off and Gio takes her place

Brazil go close again as a Ludmila cross is glanced by the post. The South American side are knocking on the door now in the dying minutes of the game.

Change for USA: Mewis on for Lavelle

Best chance of the night for Brazil falls to Debinha as she steers the ball just inches wide of the US post.

Less than 10' remain in Orlando. The US edging towards an important win as Ludmila is carded for a foul on Horan.

We've yet to see Megan Rapinoe in action yet as Brazil now resort to launching speculative balls into the US box.

A goal however for Brazil would propel the South American side top of the table by virtue of their 4-1 over Argentina.

Heading towards the final 15 minutes of action. Still no way through for Brazil with the USWNT on track for a successive 1-0 win. This victory would mean six points and a solid lead at the top of the She Believes Cup table.

Brazil sub: Andressa Alves off - on Cristiane

Changes for Brazil as Jucinara enters the action replacing Kathleen

US Cap 298 for Lloyd !

Press off too for Rapinoe.

Lavelle strikes but fails to generate sufficient curl as Alex Morgan makes way for Carli Lloyd.

Long range strike as Brazil look to find an equaliser. Still a very bright and open contest.

Great counter by Brazil but poor decision making from Debinha as she opts for the shot with players available.

Portland Thorns player Smith earning her second US cap today.

Change for the US: Williams off-Smith on

Alyssa Naeher gathers at the second time of asking as Brazil ask a few more questions of the US side now. The USWNT sitting deep and looking to strike on the counter.

Williams through on goal but hesitates and fires the ball at the keeper.

Brazil just unable to pick a hole in the well drilled US defence with the side in navy resolute in keeping the side in yellow at bay.

Possession after an hour of action USA 59-41 Brazil (%)

Card for Brazil's Tamires as she holds back Williams

Change for Brazil -out Zaneratto in Júlia Bianchi

Brazil go close as Naeher is forced into action to smother but the flag was up

Lindsey Horan carded for obstructing Barbara as she looked to throw out quickly.

Great skill from Julie Ertz as she skips past a Brazilian player and begins a long run downfield. The US looking assured and comfortable repelling the Brazilian forrays.

Press round three yellow shirts and just runs out of space ...excellent work from the United player.

A huddle from both teams. Can Brazil find a way back into the contest? It's the side in yellow who start the action

The sides take to the Exploria Stadium pitch as we look forward to the second half. As things stand with this scoreline, the USWNT would take a major step towards retaining their She Believes Cup title.

Crystal Dunn #19 of United States blocks a shot attempt by Ludmila #19 of Brazil during the first half of the SheBelieves Cup at Exploria Stadium

The whistle sounds at the Exploria Stadium and it's the 11th minute goal from Press that divides the sides. A big start from the USWNT who were very much in charge but as the half wore on the side in yellow did start to edge their way back into the contest. A big 45' ahead here in Florida ! Stick with us for the second half!

We'll have one minute of time to be added.

Last minute of the half as Brazil still look to forge a way past the well drilled US defence as Ludmila pulls the ball inches past the US post.

Lavelle has looked bright today too for the US as the Man City fires on target but an easy take for Barbara. Very discreet performance from Brazil's Marta today.

Heading towards the 40 minute mark and despite flurries from Brazil, it's still the USWNT very much in control here in Orlando.

Brazil break but a lack of communication between Debinha and Ludmila sees the Atleti striker stray offisde.

First card of the night goes to Benites as she scythes down a free flowing Alex Morgan.

Solid work from Brazil as the ball is passed around with accuracy and pace, the final shot however lacks that finesse and the US can breathe a sigh of relief. Brazil slowly easing their way back into the contest.

The US breaks as Williams feeds Lavelle but the City player handles and the whistle sounds.

Shots on target after 30': USA 3-1 Brazil

The opening goal for the USWNT bagged by Man United's Press

Desperate defending from Brazil as the US probe looking for a second goal as Williams heads over

There's maybe 5.000 fans here today at the Exploria Stadium with a reduced capacity a measure against the pandemic but it's so much better to have some supporters in the ground (where conditions allow pandemic-wise) than an empty arena.

Williams being allowed so much space to run into the Brazilian half. Good opening 20' from the North Carolina Courage striker.

Better from Brazil now as Ludmila goes close after fine play from Debinha. The whistle sounds as the referee spotted an infringement.

Brazil reply and Andressa fires the ball onto the roof of Alyssa Naeher's goal.

USWNT pressing again and only for some solid keeping from Barbara keeping the scoreline to just 1-0.

Ludmila breaks into the box but some last ditch defending by the US saves the day... Pulsating start here in Orlando.

Goooooooooooollll. The USWNT go ahead as Press fires home an excellent right footed effort that nestles in the corner of the Brazil net with Barbara rooted to the spot. Great strike from the Man United player.

This time it's Julie Ertz who has an effort but blazes the ball high and wide. Brazil being totally outclassed (and it's not often one says that)

So close as Rose Lavelle almost latches onto an Alex Morgan cross but just pulls the ball wide of the Brazilian goal.

USWNT bossing the early stage of the action domination possession 67-33 (%)

Barbara in the Brazil goal with a busy start being tested on a series of times from the side in navy.

Solid start from Vlatko Andonovski's side creating all the early running.

Early danger for Brazil as Sonnet tries her luck from the edge of the area but fails to get decent impact on the ball and it's easy for Barbara to gather.... The US force the Brazil keeper into another stop as Williams fires on target.

The US to start the action.....

So, so good to have fans at the stadium, albeit in very very reduced numbers as a consequence of the pandemic. All set .....

The US tonight playing in an all navy kit with Brazil in their iconic yellow shirts, blue shorts and white socks.

National anthem time .... a few Brazil fans present in the famous yellow shirts at the Exploria Stadium. Concentration on the faces of the USWNT as the 'Stars & Stripes' plays out.

So, all set at the Exploria Stadium in Orlando Florida. A massive game ahead between two of the giants in women's football on the international stage.

Glorious day in Orlando with a temperature of 22C/74F, ideal conditions for players and fans alike.

Brazil go through a final warm-up with kick-off looming. Just ten minutes before the game kicks-off.

Starting on the bench tonight, but should she get playing time, Carli Lloyd would secure her 298th international cap which is an amazing feat.

No place in the US team this evening for Megan Rapinoe with the OL Reign player starting on the bench after being in the initial XI in the Canada game.

The USWNT have claimed three of the five She Believes titles with one a-piece for France (2017) and England bagging the cup in 2019.

Canada and Argentina face off after the US-Brazil clash but it's the tie between the world champions and the South American side that will go some way in retaining their title.

Rose L

Manchester City player Rose Lavelle was the toast of the USWNT with the only goal in a narrow win over Canada in the opening game for both sides in this 2021 She Believes Cup. The City midfielkdrr starts tonight in Florida.

The Brazil XI: Marta starts with At. Madrid striker Ludmila leading the line with Debinha.

Starting XI: USWNT:

With 155 caps to her name, all eyes will be on Brazilian legend Marta Vieira da Silva with the 35-year-old taking to the pitch in her hometown with the Orlando Pride SC player on target as Brazil put 4 past Argentina in the opening game of the tournament.

This is the setting for tonight's action with a limited number of supporters top be permitted to the ground in Orlando.

This is how the group table looks after the first round of fixtures with the winners of tonight's game putting themselves in the driving seat for the title.

The action at the Exploria Stadium in Orlando Florida starts at 21:00.
