Atlas ask the league to investigate illegal Club América line-up

Club América started the week at the top of the table of the 2021 Guardianes tournament with 16 points and a record of 5-1-1. Manager Santiago Solari is proving that he was the right option to take over the job after the bosses parted ways with Miguel Herrera. This past weekend the Eagles defeated Atlas 2-0 on matchday 7 and they have won their last three league games.

After the game it was discovered that América striker Federico Viñas was not registered for the game. He was seen warming up with the rest of the team prior to the match and he remained on the bench the entire game. Now Atlas is demanding the league to investigate the Eagles for improper alignment, even though Viñas didn’t play any part in the match.

“We are formally asking the league to investigate the game between Atlas and América on matchday 7 due to a possible improper alignment of the visiting team. We ask the authorities of the Liga MX to respect the rules established by them prior to the beginning of each tournament,” read the statement.

If Atlas wins this case they will be given the win and the three points, while América would have to take a defeat for matchday 7 according to the rules established by the Liga MX. The case is under investigation and an answer should be given in the next few days.
