The other Champions League Round of 16 action tonight takes place in Rome as Lazio welcome Bayern Munich. We'll bring you key updates from that game here too via our feed.

The key absentee for Chelsea tonight is centre-back Thiago Silva, who didn’t play against Southampton due to a muscular issue. Atleti are without Herrera (covid), José María Giménez (muscular) and Yannick Carrasco has also failed to make the trip due to injury.

Chelsea have played 11 two-legged knockout ties with Spanish teams, with just four wins, while they have won just two of their last 11 away knockout fixtures against La Liga clubs in UEFA competition.

Chelsea are looking revived under new manager Tuchel and last weekend's draw away to Southampton was the only minor blot on their copybook over the past five games.

Atletico, despite still being LaLiga leaders have wobbled of late and have been uncharacteristically leaky defensively of late. Their comfortable lead at the top of the table was reduced considerable with an away draw and home defeat to Levante UD last week .

The National Stadium in Bucharest, setting for tonight's action

Chelsea come into tonight's clash unbeaten in seven matches in all competitions since Tuchel was named as manager to replace club great Frank Lampard, but he said the Londoners will have to be at their best against Diego Simeone's battling side.

"It's a big test. They're an experienced club at this level, (have) an experienced coach. Hopefully it brings out the best in us," Tuchel told a news conference.

"We'll do things our way, they'll do things their way. It's clear what you get when you play Atletico - fighting, experience, a team with a good mentality."

This is what Diego Simeone (Atleti manager) had to say about his striker pre game

All eyes will be on Luis Suarez tonight and the Uruguayan player has never failed to score or deliver an assist in a Champions League season – this is his eighth campaign in the tournament. The striker has not scored or laid a goal on in his four Champions League games for Atleti.

Atleti have reached the knockout stages of the Champions League for the seventh time in the last eight seasons. Chelsea will attempt to progress past the round of 16 for the first time since the 2013-14 campaign, when they lost to Diego Simeone's men in the semi-finals.

The Chelsea XI just confirmed:

Team news, first up the Atleti XI for tonight's Round of 16 clash:

Tonight's game (taking place incidentally in Bucharest due to covid restrictions in Spain relating to UK visitors) starts at 21:00 CET in the National Stadium in the Romanian capital.
