Aspetar now accredited coronavirus vaccination center in Qatar

Aspetar, a globally leading sports medicine and orthopedic hospital located in the Qatari capital of Doha, has begun a free coronavirus vaccination campaign for athletes.

As part of the efforts made to deal with Covid-19, the directors of Aspetar, in cooperation with the Qatari health authorities, approved the launch of a vaccination drive at the hospital, which is now an accredited vaccination center in Qatar.

For his part, Abdulaziz Jaham AL Kuwari, Executive Director of Aspetar, commented: “We are committed to providing vaccinations for our staff and registered athletes as quickly as possible. So thanks to the Aspetar team, as this campaign would not have happened without their efforts and hard work, particularly the providers of medical services as well as the support team, who set out the plan for the campaign and executed it in the best way possible.”

The main goal of the campaign is to vaccinate all athletes registered in Qatar, in addition to the staff of the Aspire Zone Foundation, with the process beginning with the football teams from the first and second divisions of the Qatar Stars League. At time of writing, 2,000 people had already been vaccinated.

Aspetar's medical staff supervised the process of Covid-19 testing on Qatar Stars League footballers and coaches before the competitions began and are currently busy organizing the schedule to vaccinate the rest of the athletes – according to carefully selected dates and in coordination with the medical staff of each team.

Aspetar's vaccination team comprises of representatives from different departments. Khaled Hassoun coordinates the process with the teams, while Ibrahim Hussien supervises the work of the infection prevention and control teams, together with Christopher Manglet, who acts as coordinator between the clubs and Aspire Zone Foundation staff.
