There have been more injury concerns for Real Madrid with Fede Valverde missing training on Tuesday evening.

News of the Uruguayan’s absence comes after that concerning Toni Kroos, who left Germany’s training camp early due to an adductor injury and will undergo tests at Madrid’s Valdebebas facilities on Wednesday to determine the extent of the injury. Although it is believed that it is not serious.

Valverde suffered a knock to his right leg in the game against Celta last weekend and according to AS club sources, the injury will see him sidelined for an estimated two weeks. That means he is set to miss Madrid’s next game against Eibar on 3 April. The medical team are going to work with the Uruguayan to see if he can be back on time for the first leg of the Champions League quarter final against Liverpool three days later on 6 April. "He is going to cut it close, but the lad is going to try," those sources told AS.

These latest setbacks for Kroos and Valverde are the latest in what has been an injury-plagued season for Madrid. Against Celta at the weekend, Zinedine Zidane tested out his ideal midfield line-up (Casemiro-Kroos-Modric-Valverde) with the upcoming games against Liverpool and Barcelona in mind. And with Kroos and Valverde now injured, the French coach will be praying heavily that Casemiro and Luka Modric avoid any injury setbacks over the next two weeks.

Hazard and Carvajal continue recoveries

Also absent from Tuesday’s session, Dani Carvajal and Eden Hazard continued their respective recoveries inside the facilities.

Carvajal is working with the aim of being back at Zidane’s disposal after the international break. Though considering the large number of muscular problems that he has suffered this season, there is not much room for optimism and the medical and coaching staff will continue to follow their conservative policy with the Spanish full-back. The same can be said for Hazard, who is almost certainly ruled for the two games against Liverpool on 6 and 14 April, as well as the Barcelona clash sandwiched in between on 10 April.

Real Madrid news:

The rest of the first team squad trained as normal at Madrid’s Valdebebas training ground under the direction of Zidane. They were joined by several youth players in the absence of seven players who have joined up with their respective national teams for the international break.

The players have not left on international duty will enjoy a much-welcome rest before two decisive weeks in the fight for titles, with the Eibar game in ten days followed by Liverpool, Barcelona and then Liverpool again.
