Everton and Chelsea interested in signing Daryl Dike

Daryl Dike started his professional career with Orlando City in 2020 and during the Major League Soccer regular season he scored eight goals and made 17 appearances. The United States striker became the highest-ranked rookie after the end of the 2020 MLS regular season and came third in the voting behind Diego Rossi (LAFC) and Brendan Aaronson (Philadelphia Union).

On 1 February 2021, Dike joined EFL Championship club Barnsley on loan until the end of the 2020/21 season. The Championship side has the option to make the move permanent if they pay his $20 million buy-out clause and agree to a 20 percent sell-on fee clause. Dike scored his first goal for Barnsley on 24 February against Stoke City in his team’s 2-0 league victory.

Possible move to the Premier League

So far the 20-year-old is having a successful season with Barnsley. He has made 11 league appearances and scored five goals so far. Dike has started in eight games, substituted in three and has never been left on the bench. His good performances in England’s second tier has awoken the interest of two Premier League clubs.

According to Eurosport, Everton and Chelsea have shown interest in singing the 20-year-old striker ahead of the 2021/22 Premier League season. The Toffees are willing to meet Philadelphia Union’s demand, but the team from London are also in talks with the MLS side to complete the move.
