Real Madrid make improved offer to retain Lucas Vázquez

The Galician player has received superior offers from the likes of PSG and Bayern Munich but appears poised to accept the latest Real Madrid renewal proposal.

Lucas Vázquez seems poised to stay with Real Madrid after the latest round of contract renewal talks between both sides with the player's term currently expiring on 30 June. The Spanish international is highly sought after with the likes of Bayern Múnich and PSG submitting proposals in a bid to secure his signature.

Initially Real Madrid proposed to offer the same deal (approximately 3.5 million euro per season) to the versatile player but with the club also anxious to include the 10% general salary reduction that has been applied to all players of the basketball and football teams as a consequence of loss of income via the pandemic.

The 29-year-old has always stated that his priority is to remain with the Santiago Bernabéu outfit and is a player highly regarded by head coach Zidane with the player dropping back into right back to substitute the injury hampered Dani Carvajal during the present campaign and has been a starter for Real Madrid in 64% of matches this season.

Five million per season

After a number of rounds of negotiation and aware of external interest, Real Madrid have made the player an improved offer of five million euro per season as part of a three year extension deal with the possibility of a further one year extension. A deal that will see A Courña born winger stay with the club where he cut his teeth as a youth player since signing with Madrid in 2007.
