Euro 2021: schedule, games, fixtures and groups
Euro 2021 gets underway on June 11 with Italy vs Turkey in Rome, with the final to be played exactly a month later in London's Wembley Stadium on July 11.
Following the cancellation of Euro 2020 last summer due to the coronavirus pandemic, the tournament will finally get underway a year later, kicking off on Friday June 11 with the group A clash between Turkey and Italy at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
For the first time ever there is no single host country, instead the tournament's 51 fixtures will be played across 11 host cities, with London’s Wembley Stadium set to host the semi-finals (6//7 July) and final (11 July).
The other ten Euro 2020 stadiums are: St Petersburg Stadium, Saint Petersburg (Russia), Parken Stadium, Copenhagen (Denmark), Johan Cruijff Arena, Amsterdam (The Netherlands), National Arena, Bucharest (Romania), Hampden Park, Glasgow (Scotland), Estadio La Cartuja, Seville (Spain), Fußball Arena Munchen, Munich (Germany), and the Puskas Arena, Budapest (Hungary).
Portugal, France and Germany in 'Group of Death'
2016 winners Portugal will be looking to veteran superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester United player of the year Bruno Fernandes to lead them through a tough Group F, where they are up against France, Germany and Hungary.
Containing three of the top six favoritet, Group F is undoubtedly the tournament’s 'Group of Death', where the group stage’s three highlight fixtures will be played: France-Germany (June 15), Portugal-Germany (June 19) and Portugal-France (June 23). Although, of course, there is a chance that all three will go through depending on results in other groups as the three best third-placed teams will qualify for the round of 16.
The other three favourites, England, Belgium and Spain, are in Group D, Group B and Group E, respectively. Other stand-out fixtures in the group stages include: England-Croatia (June 13), Spain-Sweden (June 14) Denmark-Belgium (June 17), England vs Scotland (June 18) and Italy vs Wales (June 20).
