What are the covid-19 restrictions for the Mayweather vs Logan Paul fight?
The Hard Rock Stadium will host the Floyd Mayweather vs Logan Paul bout on 6 June. Lightened restrictions in Florida means a large crowd is expected
The bout between boxing legend Floyd "Money" Mayweather and YouTuber sensation Logan Paul is a go; the matchup will take place in sunny Miami. Initially scheduled for February of last year at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, the fight had to be postponed to a different date in light of the sanitary crisis affecting the entire world.
Mayweather explained that the fight was rescheduled for another date because of covid-19 restrictions that would limit their audience numbers. Given the nature of the bout, an exhibition spectacle, the fighters lean heavily on fans being able to attend the stadium.
With chatter that the clash between the boxers would never occur, the fight is now a reality in what seems a series of boxing matches that are anything but professional.
Why the Hard Rock Cafe Stadium?
Thanks to a fast vaccination plan proven to be very efficient. The Sunshine State recently rolled back many covid-19 restrictions, giving Florida sports a chance to have fans on the stands at multiple venues.
What are the covid-19 restrictions at the venue?
The NFL stadium holds a GBAC STAR accreditation, a third-party validation certifying that the venue will maintain a thorough "cleaning, disinfection, and infectious disease prevention program," as stated on their site.
Additionally, they are a contactless facility with touchless security scans at all gates, touchless restrooms, and no cash accepted.
There will be minimum congregation in concourse areas, increased sanitization of all surfaces, including escalator handrails, tables, etc, extra hand sanitizing stations on the concourse and capacity restrictions in specific areas such as the team store.
All stadium employees must wear masks and have their temperature checked regularly.
Tailgating will not be allowed anywhere near the venue, and social distancing, when possible, will be enforced at all times.
How many will be in Hard Rock Stadium?
Just over a month ago Kamary Usman and Jorge Masvidal battled before a jam packed VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.
UFC 261 was originally scheduled to take place in Singapore, but heavy covid restrictions forced the move to sunny Florida.
Over 15,000 fans were in attendance to watch Usman drop Masvidal with a vicious right hook.
Hard Rock Stadium holds over five times the capacity in Jacksonville’s arena. The expected attendance will be upwards of 60,000 in Miami on June 6th.
