$5 million New York Vaccine Lottery: dates, how to enter and sign up
Gov. Anthony Cuomo has announced an extension of the state's vaccination incentive, which will see vaccine recipients given a scratch card at participating sites.
States all across the country are offering incentives for residents to get the covid-19 vaccine, in the hope that they can reach greater immunity faster and return to normality.
Of all the goodies on offer for vaccinated Americans, the New York ‘Vax and Scratch’ lottery is perhaps the most enticing. Ten vaccination sites across the state will be handing out scratch cards to all adults who get the vaccine, with prizes worth up to $5 million on offer.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced recently that the programme will continue: “This potential $5 million grand prize for getting vaccinated is the latest salvo in our campaign to convince New Yorkers to take the shot, and we're extending it to give even more people a chance at a winning ticket."
Extension granted for the New York Vaccine Lottery
On Saturday Gov. Cuomo announced that he would be extending the incentive for an additional week to allow more people time to enter the competition. Selected sites will be offering the scratch cards from Monday 7 June to Friday 11 June, with a one-in-nine chance of picking up at least $20.
Rather than a regular prize draw, as is done in some states, the New York Vaccine lottery will be done using scratch cards given to each vaccine recipient. You do not need to do anything to sign up for the lottery incentive, just turn up and receive a dose of the covid-19 vaccine at any of the participating sites.
Where can I get a covid-19 vaccine to enter the New York Vaccine Lottery?
Not all vaccination centres will be offering the scratch cards and this week will see ten new sites introduced. Venues will be open from 8am to 7pm giving you plenty of time to make the most of the programme.
