Luis Enrique calls up 11 players as fears of further positives loom
17 Spain players are now training in a parallel bubble after fears of more positive covid cases following those of Busquets and Diego Llorente.
Spain national team coach Luis Enrique has called up a further 11 players with a total of 17 now training apart from the initial first team squad as fears grow of further positive covid cases within the camp following those of Sergio Busquets and then Diego Llorente.
Memories of how the Fuenlabrada squad was decimated last year prior to the final game of the Segunda division 2019/20 season are fresh in the mind as 28 positives were recorded in the space of just seven days.
The new call-ups include: Álvaro Fernández, Óscar Mingueza, Marc Cucurella, Bryan Gil, Juan Miranda, Gonzalo Villar, Pozo, Brahim, Zubimendi, Yeremy Pino and Javi Puado, with the bulk of these players featuring in Tuesday's friendly game against Lithuania in Leganes.
17 players in parallel 'bubble'
These 11 join Kepa, Albiol, Brais, Fornals, Rodrigo and Soler who have been training apart from the initial squad of 24 players which has been reduced by two with the departures of Busquets and Llorente.
Luis Enrique is now desperately crossing his fingers hoping that no more players will test positive during the daily PCR testing with his plans ahead of Euro 2020 suffering a major derailment. Spain open their campaign next Monday in Seville as they face group E opponents Sweden.
