Ethan Horvath on the radar of several European clubs
The American goalkeeper helped the United States men’s national team defeat Mexico 3-2 in the CONCACAF Nations League final earlier this month.
Ethan Horvath became one of the newest heroes in the United States after he blocked Andrés Guardado’s penalty in the 120th minute of the CONCACAF Nations League final to give the USMNT the title. After his performance earlier this month several teams in Europe started inquiring about his services.
Horvath could play in Italy or England
According to multiple reports, Serie A side Empoli is keen on signing Horvath during the summer transfer window. Other clubs that are eyeing Horvath with interest are Tottenham from the Premier League and Fortuna Sittard from the Eredivisie.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper joined Club Brugge KV in 2017 and his contract expires on 30 June 2021. He has been serving as the second option to Simon Mignolet since 2019 and played just one game during the 2020/21 campaign.
The American’s sole appearance came in the Europa League on 20 October 2020 against Zenit during the group stage. Horvath started the game and played the entire 90 minutes in Brugge’s 2-1 victory.
