The Brooklyn Nets pulled off a comeback win over the Milwaukee Bucks to take control of the series in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinals. Kevin Durant had a historic performance to lead the Nets to a 114-108.
Harden filled the void left by Irving injury
Brooklyn knew they would be without Kyrie Irving after suffering an ankle sprain last game, but they got a big boost with the return of James Harden. Harden had missed all but a minute of the series after exiting the opener 43 seconds into the game.
Milwaukee pulled out to a big lead as the Nets looked lost on the offensive end in the first quarter. After scoring the first basket of the ball game Brooklyn went five minutes with out a point. Kevin Durant and Jeff Green had the only Nets points in the first 12 minutes they went 4-19 from the field.
Nets needed big games from KD and Green
The Bucks went to the halftime break with a 16 point lead. Kevin Durant and Jeff Green scored 33 of the Nets 43 points in the first half, and both were instrumental in the second half comeback.
Green hit three 3 pointers in the third quarter to spark a run that saw the Nets hit 8 straight shots. Green went 7/8 from downtown in route to 27 points.

It took Harden almost two and a half quarter to get his first basket of the game, but KD did more than make up for the slow offensive night for The Beard. Durant went for 49 points 17 rebounds and 10 assists, becoming one of four players in NBA history to post a game of 40/15/10.
Brooklyn took their first lead since the opening basket of the game with 8:30 to go in the fourth quarter with a three from who else, Kevin Durant. The Bucks managed to take the lead back just once, as Brooklyn held on to the victory to go up 3-2 in the series.
Giannis Antetokounmpo had 34 and 12, while Khris Middleton scored 25 points.

Kyrie out of Game 5 with a sprianed ankle
The Brooklyn Nets will be without Kyrie Irving for Game 5 after suffering an ankle injury in Sunday’s loss to the Milwaukee Bucks. James Harden has said he is going to test out his right hamstring today after the Nets upgraded him from out to doubtful.
Giannis and Middleton bring the Bucks back in Milwaukee
The Bucks tied the series in Milwaukee with a big second half on Sunday afternoon. Giannis Antetokounmpo set the tone with 32 points and 12 rebounds. Khris Middleton had 19, but it was PJ Tucker who provided the defensive spark, frustrating Kevin Durant all afternoon long.
The Bucks and their top rated offense in the regular season struggled shooting the ball in the opening two games, but they have won the last two games by locking down on defense. In their two wins in Wisconsin they allowed just 89.5 points per game.
Nets used to being without entire Big Three
Brooklyn have been without James Harden for all but 43 seconds in this series due to the hamstring injury he suffered in the opener. They will head into Tuesday night’s game with two of their Big Three possibly sidelined with injury. Kyrie had a double digit first half before scoring a lay up under the basket and landing on Antetokounmpo’s foot and twisting his ankle.
Kevin Durant has carried the load throughout the playoffs, without Iriving and potentially Harden he will have to do even more as the Nets look to defend their home court. Fortunately and unfortunately for Brooklyn this is a situation they are used to being in. Injuries have plagued the Nets all season, and they could be missing two of the Big Three in the biggest game of the year.

Durant has been unstoppable in the post season averaging over 31 points per game, but he’s going to need a big game from role players like Joey Harris and Blake Griffin.
