What is Vasiliy Lomachenko's boxing record?
How many professional and amateur wins and losses does the Ukrainian lightweight, featherweight world, and two-time Olympic boxing champion have?
Two time Olympic gold medallist Ukrainian Vasiliy Lomachenko, winner in the Olympic featherweight and the lightweight category, also a winner of the Val Barker trophy in 2008 as the best "pound for pound" Olympic boxer, will fight the Japanese boxer, Masayoshi Nakatani, on June 26th at the Virgin Hotel in Las Vegas. It will be a perfect opportunity for the future Hall of Famer to prepare his second career quest in unifying the three titles of WBA, WBO, and IBF.
Nakatani will be the almost perfect fighter to prepare Lomachenko for the upcoming quest and it is expected that he will overcome the Japanese with superior skill, speed, timing, and footwork. However, Nakatani's height advantage with almost 12cm of difference may prove a problem for the two-time Olympic gold medallist. Also, the lingering shoulder problem of the Ukrainian may cause him more significant issues in winning this fight.
Professional career of Vasiliy Lomachenko
Lomachenko had one of the most outstanding amateur boxing records, with 396 wins and just one loss. "Loma" started his professional career in 2012, fighting and winning against Jose Luis Ramirez. He had his first professional defeat in the next fight versus Orlando Salido in his attempt to obtain the World Boxing Organization's featherweight title. In his third professional bout against Gary Russell Jr., Lomachenko defeated his opponent via a twelve-round majority decision and then immediately joined Saensak Muangsurin as the only other boxer to have won a world title in the quickest amount of time since turning professional, accomplishing the feat in just his third professional bout.
Lomachenko later became the fastest boxer to win a world title in two weight divisions knocking out Puertorican Roman Martinez in the 5th round of the world title fight in the super featherweight category.
The fight against Nakatani will be Loma's 17th professional appearance in the ring. He holds an impressive score of 14 wins, ten by knockout, and two losses. The second one came in his last fight against the American Teofimo Lopez, who represented Honduras in his amateur days.
