When was the last Connor Mcgregor's UFC fight, and what was the result

McGregor vs Poirier: what's gone before?

In their first fight, the Irish McGregor was victorious with a first-round knockout. Next time around, a more calmed and much-improved Poirier used a diet of leg kicks and grappling techniques to find the opening he needed in the second round and to unload a volley of punches that bounced off McGregor's head and finished the job.

For the real UFC followers, it was not strange that this outcome occurred. Poirier has gone on a 10-2 run with victories over four former champions from their previous altercation. Although he was the No. 2-ranked lightweight, he was still the underdog entering the fight. But that's just how Poirier felt more comfortable.

The second fight

A composed Poirier worked really well in the clinch game along with the leg kicks. McGregor's precision striking was on display as he picked off his opponent with left hands but seemed uneased once Poirier got inside and secured a good grappling position. McGregor soon got a clear picture that he would not be able to blitz his opponent like he did many others.

Poirier continued with composing tactics in the second round of the match. He continued to fire punches as McGregor sought an escape before ducking right into a right hand that put the former two-division champion down for good at the 2:32 mark.

McGregor was gracious in his defeat and implied that his inactivity was crucial for his loss, and sure this was only his third UFC fight in almost five years.
