USMNT beats Martinique 1-6: goals and highlights
Martinique vs. USMNT goals and highlights: Concacaf Gold Cup 2021
The USMNT hammers Martinique on the second game of Group B of Gold Gup and qualifies for the next round
The USMNT adds another win and makes it 2 on this Gold Cup. They will now face Canada in the third game of Group B. Daryl Dike was sensational tonight, scoring 2 goals for the team. This U.S. team was a lot better than their last version against Haiti last Sunday.
Daryl Dike became the third USMNT player to score 2 or more goals in a Gold Cup match at age 21 or younger, sharing that position with Landon Donovan and Christian Pulisic. Solidifying his excellent performance tonight and maybe solving an issue that has plagued the U.S. team ever since Landon Donovan left the national team.
Another positive note for the Americans is the performance by Gianluca Busio. The Kansas native felt at home at the Children's Mercy Park stadium. The youngster also become the second-youngest player to start at the Gold Cup at 19 years old and 48 days. Juan Agudelo holds that record with 18 years and 196 days.
With this win, the USMNT are already qualified for the quarterfinals.
The USMNT had a difficult start to their Gold Cup run. The Americans faced Haiti last Sunday, but they could only win by one goal. By any means, the U.S. team is a far superior squad to that of Haiti, and even though the team showed a lot of initiative, the scoreline should have been more lopsided.
