Giannis Antetokounmpo, minutes after winning the NBA championship: “I want a trade!”
NBA star Antetokounmpo jokes that his mission is accomplished after winning the NBA finals and he is now free to leave Milwaukee.
On Tuesday night, the Milwaukee Bucks defeated the Phoenix Suns in game 6 of the NBA finals - thanks in large part to Giannis Antetokounmpo, who unsurprisingly, won MVP.
Giannis tells reporter he wants a trade
Moments after winning the NBA championship and MVP, Giannis responded to a reporter who referenced a tweet he made at 19 years old, in which he said he wouldn’t leave Milwaukee until he won a championship. Giannis joked with the reporter saying, “I’m out now! Can I leave now?”
Giannis' outstanding performance
Giannis truly had an astounding performance, adding his name to the record books with 50 points, 14 rebounds, and five blocks in game 6, leading a 105-98 win over the Suns. This was Milwaukee’s first NBA championship in 50 years.
In reality, Giannis has no reason to leave the team and it’s doubtful that the Bucks would accept letting him go at this point. They’ve built a strong team around him and can enjoy and celebrate the championship before preparing for the next season.
