Cardinals first NFL team to agree to put sportsbook in stadium
The Arizona Cardinals have reached an agreement with BetMGM to install a sportsbook inside of their stadium. They wll be the first football team to do so.
The Arizona Cardinals could be the first NFL team to install a retail sportsbook in their stadium after announcing a partnership with BetMGM.
Sports betting has become increasingly common around the United States with restrictions lifting around the country. As of now there are 29 states, and the District of Columbia that have past legislation allowing legal gambling on sporting events.
While doors are opening for sports betters in over half of the United States, there are only a couple places that have the green light to open sportsbooks at professional sports venues. Illinois, Arizona and the District of Columbia are the select few who have the go ahead to install bet shops in their stadiums.
D.C. first to have sportsbook at sporting venue
Capital One Arena in Washington D.C was the first venue to open a retail sportsbook in the U.S. Fans at the Wizards, Capitals, and Mystics games have had the opportunity to place bets in the stadium since they opened a sportsbook in 2020.
This will be the first time the NFL has partnered with a sports gambling company. BetMGM announced the partnership with the Cardinals and Gila River Hotels & Casinos, and the plan is to have the sportsbook open State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona before the start of next season.
Suns and Cubs have agreements to install sportsbooks
The Phoenix Suns reached an agreement with FanDuel this year, and plan to have a sportsbook up and running in the coming seasons. The Chicago Cubs have also been given the nod to build a two story complex at Wrigley Field.
