Real Madrid vs Real Betis: Game preview
Real Madrid take on Manuel Pellegrini’s Real Betis in Seville on Saturday evening as they look to get back into a winning groove in LaLiga.
This Saturday, Real Madrid will travel to Seville to take on Real Betis. Here's how they stack up.
Real Madrid has seen four points since their opening two league games, putting them at third in the table. Real Betis has seen two points in their last two games, putting them at the 10th position. Betis played impressively in the 2020/21 season. In 38 matches, they scored 61 points, finishing sixth and qualifying them for the group stage of this year’s Europa League. Madrid put up 42 points in 19 away games last season.
Betis has a good tracking record against Madrid
Betis will be looking to move up, but they have yet to win a game this season, tying with Mallorca and Cadiz in their opening two games. However, Betis have only lost one game against Real Madrid in the last five LaLiga matchups. They have welcomed four new players to the team with Youssouf Sabaly, Rui Silva, Juan Miranda and German Pezzella.
Madrid's conquest for Mbappé continues
Real Madrid opened their season with a 4-1 win against Alavés. They tied 3-3 with Levante the following week. They are looking to improve their team with the addition of PSG’s Kylian Mbappé before the transfer deadline on Tuesday. If they’re able to lock him down before then, we could see an even more intimidating offense.
So even though Betis has been a challenge for Madrid in their recent meetings, they still have a slight edge. They may have tied with Levante, but in general they have had a better start to the season. Real Betis is also dealing with several injured players and will likely struggle to find decent replacements.
Kickoff is scheduled for 4pm ET, Saturday, August 28th.
