Will Walmart, Costco, Target and regional chains be open on Labor Day?
With Labor weekend underway, consumers are rushing to take advantage of the days prior to their get-togethers Monday, as many stores close on Labor Day.
Family and friends Labor Day get-togethers have become a classic over labor celebrations' history. With barbecues and parties taking place at people's homes, consumers will definitely be willing to take advantage of the weekend's opening supermarkets for Monday shopping.
Unlike Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter, most major retailers and grocery stores will be open on Labor Day, a federal holiday dedicated to the achievements of American workers and held annually on the first Monday of September, however, Some businesses will operate with shorter hours.
The stock market, in the same way as banks, pharmacies and government offices are closed Monday.
Walmart and Target keep their doors open
Walmart will continue to be the savior for many families on Labor Day, as it keeps its doors open for customers, most of them working at their usual opening and closing hours. Nevertheless, people may want to double check first with their Walmart's Store Finder tool, just in case their local Walmart store has changed its schedule slightly and is operating with shorter hours.
Target will also open on Labor Day and Labor weekend, with regular store hours from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The chain is opened 363 days a year with just Christmas Day and Easter Sunday off, so if you are the kind of person that can't live without Target in your life, you won't have to worry for most federal holidays. The answer is most-likely: "Yes, it's open".
Costco among the closed businesses on Labor Day
As so many grocery stores are open on major holidays, you’d naturally assume that a big retail store like Costco would be open as well. But sadly, the reigning croissant supermarket unlike Walmart and Target will remain closed on Labor Day.
No driving to another Costco, even if its the one from your neighbor state, will save consumers from this one, as it's not just a matter of a few, but all of Costco's supermarkets are closing.
In fact, according to Costco's calendar on its website, Labor Day is not the only day that the retail store closes for. New Year’s Day, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas, are also among the free days for Costco's personnel.
However, you can always go on Labor weekend and benefit from its multiple weekend offers, when Costco will be open on regular operating hours, from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
