Apple unveils new features of the iPhone 13 which will build upon improvements made with the release of the iPhone 12...
Apple’s September events are usually the most hotly-anticipated of the year and are often used to release a new product line up ahead of the Christmas shopping season.
Today's event was no different as the company released the details of the iPhone 13, iPad, and Apple TV. Tim Cook spoke to how Apple continues to make iPhone "more capable, more powerful and even more fun to use."
The iPhone 13 will have a price range similar to that of the iPhone 12 when it was launched. iPhone 13 mini will start at $699. Those looking to buy the mid-range model will pay $799 at checkout.
Viewers of the Apple event were shown exactly how the 13th edition builds upon the iPhone 12 in relation to the device's chip, camera, battery, and more.
Colors, Sizes, and Storage
iPhone 13 will "have the sleek flat edge design that people love," with many saying it looks very similar to iPhone 12. iPhone 13 will be available in five colors: pink, blue, midnight, starlight, and Product Red.
Like iPhone 12, iPhone 13 will be available in four models: Phone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, and iPhone 13 mini.
The Phone 13 and mini will be available in 64, 128, and 256 GB versions.
Bionic chip and Battery
The iPhone 12 runs on the A14 Bionic chip, which until the A15 was the fastest chip in a smartphone. iPhone 13 will run on A15, which has all the same benefits as its predecessor.
Apple touted the advancement they have made regarding chips, saying that the competition is still struggling to catch up with their chips from two years ago. With 15 billion transistors, performance has improved, with graphics being able to load 30% faster.
As for battery life, Apple boasted that the iPhone 13 and mini will have longer battery life:
Camera
With each iPhone, Apple has worked to make the camera better. Today, the camera on iPhone has changed the photography market as it provides a near professional-grade camera.
Compared to iPhone 12, the camera on iPhone 13 will take more enhanced photos thanks to new features, including the Cinematic mode in video. iPhone 13 will also have the optical image stabilization feature, which was previously only on the iPhone Pro Max models.
