Thursday evening, the Italian club Lazio played Istanbul's Galatasaray in the Europa League's group stage game. It was a relatively uneventful game with no goals, until of course, the 66th minute of the game, when Lazio's goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha scored the first goal of the night...on his own team.

It was admittedly a pretty silly mistake, but it provided entertainment at least. One player for Lazio intercepted a cross into the box by sending the ball high up into the air, above the goal. Unfortunately for Strakosha, he tried to catch the ball as it came back down, but was hilariously unsuccessful. Not only did he not make the catch, but the ball then bounced on over the goal line after ricocheting, giving Galatasaray the 1-0 lead in the 66th minute, which ended up being the final score. Strakosha was so ashamed, he tried to hide away in the goal as the Galatasaray side went crazy over the bizarre own goal. Not a great start to the 2021 Europa League campaign for Lazio. Yikes.
