Brady joins Favre, Manning and Brees in exclusive 'Club 32'

Tom Brady has joined Brett Favre, Peyton Manning and Drew Brees as the fourth player in history to defeat all 32 NFL teams. Can Aaron Rodgers be the next to join 'Club 32'?

Week 4 of the 2021 NFL campaign will go down as one of the milestone weeks in Tom Brady’s prolific career. Aside from becoming the quarterback with the most passing yards in the history of the game (80,560), he also joined a select group of signal callers following the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 19-17 win over his old team, the New England Patriots, on Sunday.

With the victory over the Patriots, Brady became just the fourth quarterback in history to defeat all 32 NFL teams, joining Brett Favre, Peyton Manning and Drew Brees, the latter being whom he surpassed in all-time passing yards on Sunday.

Brett Favre - 2009

The first player to defeat all 32 NFL teams was Brett Favre who, as a member of the Minnesota Vikings, defeated the Packers in 2009 (30-23) to open 'Club 32'. He went on to lead the Vikings to back-to-back wins over his former team, as the Minnesota franchise beat the Packers 38-36 in their second meeting that season. However, he then lost twice to the Packers the following season in 2010, which was his last in the NFL.

NFL News:

Peyton Manning - 2014

Five seasons later, Payton Manning became the second member of the club. During the first week of the 2014 season, the Colts visited the Broncos and Denver came out on top with a 31-24 win over Manning’s former team. It was the only time in his career that Manning faced Indianapolis.

Drew Brees - 2018

Drew Brees became the third member of the club in 2018. Brees defeated 19 teams while playing for the Chargers (2001-2005), including the one for which he left Los Angeles, the New Orleans Saints. As a member of the Saints (2006-2020), Brees beat the Chargers (37-32) in 2008. However, the last team on his list was not his former team, but the Baltimore Ravens, whom he finally defeated 24-23 in 2018 to join Favre and Manning in 'Club 32'.

Other active QBs who could join 'Club 32'

At the moment, behind Brady, there are only two active QBs that have defeated 31 of the 32 NFL teams: Ben Roethlisberger and Aaron Rodgers. Roethlisberger’s current team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, is the only one pending on his list. However, he is expected to retire after the 2021 campaign, meaning he is extremely unlikely to achieve the exclusive milestone.

Rodgers, meanwhile, looks poised to leave Green Bay at the end of the season and, given he is not set to retire any time soon, the 37-year-old has a realistic chance of joining 'Club 32' should he manage to defeat the Packers with his new team, whoever that might be.
