In the most anticipated game of the NFL season the Bucs' Carlton Davis was carried off the field and did not return.

Bucs' Carlton Davis injured against New England Patriots

Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Carlton Davis had to be helped off the field in the first half of Sunday night’s game against the New England Patriots. The Bucs' player seemed to suffer a quad injury as he clutched the area in visible pain. Davis was then ruled out of the game officially. Interestingly Davis had been listed as questionable before the game with a hamstring injury.

The Bucs were receiving at the time after a Patriots punt, when Davis was attempting to block the path of a return man. While running alongside his opponent, his leg could be seen to give out and he tumbled to the ground. He immediately grabbed his thigh. In clear discomfort, Davis had to be carried off the field by trainers as he was unable to put any weight on the leg. According to Scott Reynolds the injury, “does not look good.”

Who is Carlton Davis?

A second-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Davis has only ever played for the Buccaneers. Though it's only been 3 short years the cornerback has established himself as integral part of the Tampa Bay's defense. Davis was on 14 tackles ahead of Sunday's game along with four pass deflections and one interception.

A key player in the Bucs' Super Bowl run, his loss will be a blow to Head coach Bruce Arians plans. Indeed Arians has made no secret of his admiration for the player in the recent past saying, “Carlton is, I think, one of the top corners in the league and he does give you a lot of flexibility defensively as far as being able to follow a guy from inside to outside and both sides.”
