With Halloween coming up in just a week, we know some of you are already looking for quick and creative costume ideas. Like always, the 31st of October comes with parties and gatherings that call for the most conspicuous costumes. Luckily, 2021 has brought us a variety of popular shows and events that can inspire our costume picks this year.

Some of the very best costumes we’ve seen for over a decade take cinema characters into account, and so we have assembled a 2021 costume list that has it all.

Popular shows in 2021:

Squid Game

The 'Squid Game' show inspires one of the best Netflix-leading-costumes this year, potentially beating the reigning champ, Money Heist, which has become the most worn show costume since the series started.

The Money Heist successor gives us a wide variety of costume ideas that will have a lot of people familiar with. Within the show, there are a few characters that can be easily copied: the 'general contestant' with the blue jumpsuit, the main characters, the red-jersey staff with the different masks, and of course the potential number-one costume in Korea this year the robot doll. If you want a creepy twist to your 'Squid Game' costume this year, the robot doll is definitely your top pick. Shivers!

Beth Harmon

The 'Queen’s Gambit' has set the record for the most-watched scripted limited series to date on Netflix, and many around the world have developed an obsession for Beth Harmon and all she represents. This is definitely an original costume idea that will turn heads around.

Money Heist

The eternal protagonist of all costume parties. 'Money Heist' has become a phenomenon difficult to forget. We're still not used to the idea that the professor's adventures are coming to an end, and every character in this series holds such a strong presence in our hearts. What are we going to do about that? Bring our favorite characters to this year's Halloween party.

Gossip Girl

With Blair Waldorf's season underway, why not go for one of the fancy characters in Gossip Girl? Serena, Blair, Dan, Chuck, Nick…all of them are great options. And the best thing about this idea?  You can always wear their clothes on regular days too!

Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones might have been over two years ago, but we are still not ready to let go. Our love for the show continues and so do our costumes.

One of the classics!

Don’t have enough time to think up a costume? If you’re the kind of person that likes to keep it simple, classics are always a safe option to go with. And well, classics never go out of fashion! If you know, you know.

1. Skeleton,

2. Witch

3. Dracula/ Vampire

4. Scream

5. Mummy

6. Addams Family

If you want to spice things up with these classics, add contact lenses or masks and bring back the must-haves of Halloween. Check out this useful tutorial:

Spotlight guaranteed!

If you are looking for a costume that doesn’t leave anyone indifferent, these ideas will give you what you are looking for: leave them with hung jaws!!

1. Bezos in space costume

This costume will definitely blow the minds of everyone who sees you, especially if you're looking for some attention...

2. Met gala: Kardashian look

Recreating the Kardashian look from this met gala seems like a really fun thing to do, if you're into that kind of thing. And what's an easier look to put together than Kim's full black suit?

3. Bernie Sanders at the inauguration of President Joe Biden

One of the funniest pictures that we were left with this year was the one with Bernie Sanders at Joe Biden's inauguration. Political but comical

4. Tokyo 2020 Olympian

Having had the Tokyo Olympics this year, it seems appropriate to dress up as one of the main athletes at the Games. The variety is endless, from Simone Biles and Gwen Berry, to Allyson Felix.

Last but not least, if you want to be the only person at your party wearing an original costume this year, we guarantee you this idea will be the prize-winner: Olympic Artistic swimmer.

Whether you copy Mexico's finalists' 80's costume, or Spain's tango costumes, you can easily look for tops and headpieces that can make your overall look. With some sharp make-up and colors, the only thing you'll be missing is to get creative with it.  Lastly, we leave you with some artistic swimming highlights from #Tokyo2020 to juice some creative thoughts out.
