Pedri and Araújo ruled out of El Clásico
Both players have been ruled out of Sunday's game against Real Madrid at Camp Nou. Ousmane Dembélé could still make the matchday squad.
Pedri and Ronald Araújo will both miss the first El Clásico of the 2021/22 campaign on Sunday. The Canary Islander, according to Sport, has not returned to full training yet, while the latter could be out for at least another week after getting injured on international duty with Uruguay.
French winger Ousmane Dembélé still has a chance of making Ronald Koeman's matchday squad for the visit of Real Madrid. Defender Eric García, who is absent from the Champions League squad due to suspension, is expected to be in the squad this weekend.
Pedri set for more time on the sidelines
Pedri picked up a thigh injury on 15 September against Bayern Munich. In his attempt to return to action a fortnight later against Benfica, he did more damage to the injury. This situation has forced the club and the player to be cautious in his recovery. The plan is for the 18-year-old to play a few minutes against Alavés on October 30 and in the Champions League against Dynamo Kyiv on November 2 but he will miss the fixture against Rayo Vallecano.
Araújo injured his right hamstring with his national team ten days ago. Although Barcelona did not want to give a prognosis, at AS, we have already predicted that he will be out for around three weeks. That means that, in the best case scenario, he would be fit for the match against Dynamo in Kiev.
Dembélé on the way back
Dembélé is making good progress in his bid to return to action and he could be included in the squad against Madrid, although this will depend on his physical condition towards the end of the week. He has been out of action for four months.
