Patriots beating of Jets: a summary
I decided to write up a summary anyway, even though that tweet tells you everything you need to know. In case you want details, here they are.
The Jets came into this game fresh off a bye week and the Patriots came into it fresh off an overtime loss to the Cowboys. They were 0-4 at their home stadium after that, and not lookin' so hot. The Jets, however, looked even LESS hot coming into today.
First quarter
In the first quarter, the Patriots took the lead right away with a touchdown pass to Agholor on their first drive of the game. Pats are up 7-0. The Jets get exactly nowhere on their returning drive. The Patriots then turn around and get another touchdown straight away with Harris running that one in to give the Pats a 14-0 lead early in the first quarter. The Jets try to answer with some points at least, as they make it to field goal range, but Ammendola's 48-yard attempt is no good. The Pats stay up 14-0 at the end of the first.
Second quarter
At the start of the second quarter, the Patriots get down into FG range and Folk kicks a 39-yard field goal to put them up 17-0 and give him his 300th career field goal. When the Jets get the ball back, they take it down close to the endzone, but unfortunately Zach Wilson suffers a right knee injury on the play and is substituted by backup QB Mike White. They are able to convert and get the touchdown when White passes to Davis for 3 yards. Ammendola's extra point is food and the Jets are at least on the board at 17-7. The Patriots respond with another touchdown on a 15-yard pass to Bolden. Pats are up 24-7. The Jets can't get anywhere and the Patriots end the half with yet another touchdown when Jones passes it to Henry in the endzone, putting the Patriots up 31-7 before the end of the first half.
Third quarter
The Jets start out the second half with a touchdown run by Elijah Moore. They go for the two-point conversion but they don't get anywhere, giving them just 6 points and putting the score at 31-13. The Jets' luck runs out here as they don't score another point the rest of the game. Meanwhile, the Patriots don't let up. They get a field goal, putting them up 34-13, and then two interceptions in a row, one by Dugger, and one by Jackson.
Fourth quarter
The Jackson interception led to another Patriots touchdown by Harris, his second of the day, putting them up 41-13. They score two more touchdowns, both by Taylor. Folk missed one of the extra points, so the final score was 54-13, a huge beating of the Jets.
Thanks for joining our live feed of the Patriots vs Jets game this afternoon! We hope you had fun. Enjoy the rest of your NFL Sunday!
All of Jackson's interceptions this season have been against the Jets. He and Wilson seem to have a nice thing going.
Injury report
Several injuries occurred during the game today, one of which was Jets rookie starting quarterback Zach Wilson. Patriots linebacker Matt Judon fell on the back of Wilson’s legs. Wilson was down for several minutes before eventually getting up and walking off the field, but he did not return. He was reported to have suffered an injury to his right knee. He was substituted by backup quarterback Mike White, who had never previously taken a single regular-season snap in the NFL.
Jets Injuries
The Jets suffered several injuries to different players in the third quarter. Linebacker Blake Cashman left the field in the third quarter with a groin injury. Linebackers Jamien Sherwood and Quincy Williams as well as running back Ty Johnson were all taken out to be evaluated for concussions in the third quarter. Johnson and Sherwood were fine to return, but then Sherwood later left again with a calf injury.
Patriots Injuries
The Patriots also dealt with injuries during the game. Many of their injuries occurred in the second quarter: safety Devin McCourty suffered an abdomen injury, defensive lineman Carl Davis a wrist injury, tight end Jonnu Smith a shoulder injury, and linebacker Harvey Langi a knee injury. In the fourth quarter right guard Shaq Mason left with an injured abdomen.
Patriots game stats
This was Mac Jones' first 300-yard game and the Patriots' first home-game win this season. This victory makes the Patriots' 12th straight sweep over the Jets in six seasons.
Jones threw two touchdown passes and finished 24 of 36 for 106 yards. Damien Taylor and J.J. Harris ran for two touchdowns each and Harris rushed 14 times for 106 yards.

Will the Patriots get their first home-game victory?
The Pats have yet to see a victory at home this season. They beat the Jets once at their home stadium - surely, they can do it again at their own home stadium, right? The Patriots are coming off of a rough overtime loss to the Cowboys, while the Jets are coming off a bye week, nice and refreshed. That loss to the Cowboys put the Patriots at 0-4 at home for the first time since 1993. Will their luck change tonight to make it a New York Jets sweep and their first home victory?
C.J. Mosley listed as inactive
The Jets will be without their best defensive man, C.J. Mosley against the Patriots. He suffered a hamstring injury when the Jets lost to the Falcons in London. In his last five games, Mosley had 45 tackles, including 13 in one game against the Titans. With Mosley out, there will be a lot of pressure on rookie Jamien Sherwood to take over the play-calling duties.
What the Jets need to know to defeat the Patriots
The Patriots defense is weak. We saw it last week when they gave up 445 passing yards to the Cowboys and even before that, when they gave up 294 passing yards to the Texans, a team who is currently sitting at an unimpressive 1-5. In week two’s Pats vs Jets rivalry, Zach Wilson was only able to gain 184 passing yards against the New England defense and the Jets were only able to get six points with no touchdowns. This time around, Wilson has an opportunity to maximize against the weak Patriots defense now that some of his o-line is looking better.
Jones is the better of the two rookie quarterbacks and though you wouldn’t know it from the Patriots’ record, he is actually on pace to break Dak Prescott’s record of rookie completions of 67.8 percent. Right now, Jones ranks fourth in the NFL with a 71.1 completion percentage. The Jets are going to have to put the pressure on Jones, as we’ve seen he does make his mistakes. If the Jets defense can cause some turnovers, they might just get their revenge after the Patriots forced four interceptions from Wilson the last time the teams met.
If the Jets can pull off a win, they would move up in the AFC standings and the Patriots would move down. The Bills will remain at the top for now, but the Jets are only a game behind New England and are just one game ahead (because of a bye week) of the Dolphins, so this game means a lot for the two teams.
Jets look for revenge against Patriots
The Patriots and Jets play each other for the second time today to continue their AFC East rivalry. The Jets are fresh off a bye week, hoping to get a comeback win against the Patriots this time. In week two, the Patriots battered the Jets 25-6. Since then, the Jets really haven’t done much better. They have won only one game this season, an overtime win against the Tennessee Titans.
The Patriots honestly haven’t looked that great this season either. Dealing with injuries and still dealing with the loss of Tom Brady, the Patriots have only won one game besides the one they won against the Jets, and that was a close 3-point win over the Houston Texans.
Mac vs Zach
Both teams have rookie quarterbacks this season with Patriots Mac Jones and Jets Zach Wilson. Both have thrown several interceptions, but Wilson wins with a total of nine already this season, four of which were against the Patriots in week two. Wilson has thrown an interception in every single game so far. He will need to be a lot more careful against the Pats defense this time around.
Jones, on the other hand, has thrown only one interception since their last meeting. The Patriots have been a lot less risky with him, though. He typically comes back quick from his errors. Last week, for example, right after throwing an interception against the Cowboys, he answered with a 75-yard touchdown pass. If the Patriots' coaching staff will let him play and make some of those mistakes, he could finally start to learn from them and reach his potential.
