The NBA season is in full swing and this Wednesday saw the Lakers with another upsetting loss, the Timberwolves defeat the defending NBA champions, and the pre-season favorite Nets lose to the Miami Heat.

Hornets go for fourth straight win with defeat over Magic

The Charlotte Hornets got their fourth win in five games when they beat the Orlando Magic 120-11 on Wednesday night. Their only loss of the season so far was to the Boston Celtics. Miles Bridges scored 31 points, and Gordon Hayward scored 24. The Hornets lost an early lead, but Bridges and Hayward scored a combined 21 points to put them back up at the half. The Magic responded with Cole Anthony and Gary Harris taking them back into the lead in the third quarter, but Bridges came right back with eight straight points. It was Bridges who hit a three-pointer with just over a minute left to seal the deal for the Hornets.

The Boston Celtics rallied after a 15-point deficit in the third quarter but by midway through the fourth, the Wizards were up by one point just before going on an 8-0 spree. Aaron Holiday scored three of the four baskets. It was a close game. The Wizards were up by 10 with three and a half minutes to go, but the Celtics made it 108-105 with a three-pointer from Schroeder and a basket from Beal and Dinwiddie. It wasn’t enough in the end, as the Wizards held them off to get the victory.

Russel Westbrook had another triple-double against the Thunder, 20 points, 14 rebounds, and 13 assists in Wednesday’s loss to Oklahoma City. He was ejected for a technical foul in the final seconds of the game. The Lakers were without Lebron James, who is still nursing his ankle. Anthony Davis scored 30 points for the Lakers. With just under 10 seconds left, the Thunder led by three and Carmelo Anthony intercepted a pass from Giddey. He went for a three-pointer to tie the game, but missed, giving the Thunder the rebound. This was the Thunder’s biggest comeback ever.

Abedayo goes for 24 points in Heat win over Nets

The Nets were one of the favourites to win the NBA championship before the regular season. Now that we’re here. Brooklyn has been winning one, losing one for the first five games of the season. The Heat were trailing 51-49 at halftime. The Heat couldn’t keep up with the powerful duo of Durant and Harden, but they stayed focused and outscored the Nets 32-23 in the third quarter. Miami maintained the lead at 81-74 going into the fourth quarter. The Nets kept fighting, cutting the deficit to 90-84 plus another three-pointer from Durant before Adebayo threw down two huge dunks to secure the Heat win.

Timberwolves defeat the reigning NBA champs

The Timberwolves lost six straight games to the Bucks before finally getting a win on Wednesday night. Minnesota never trailed, the entire game. After the first quarter, they led 44-34, and were up 66-58 at the half. In the third quarter, they were up by even more with an 82-69 lead. D’Angelo Russel scored 29 points, and Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards both scored 25. For the Bucks, Giannis Antetokuonmpo scored an impressive 40 points with 16 rebounds. Without point guard Jrue Holiday and center Brook Lopez, the Bucks couldn’t get the lead.
