Supermarkets' opening hours on Veterans Day: Walmart, Costco, Target...
Veterans Day is just around the corner, but the federal holiday does not automatically mean the Federal Holiday will lead to store closures.
Veterans Day celebrates the sacrifice of all American soldiers in the myriad conflicts they have been engaged in. Originally, the holiday was known as "Armistice Day", to celebrate the end of the Great War, better known today as the First World War. However, since 1953, after the Korean War, it has been renamed to Veterans Day, to better reflect a remembrance of all wars. Besides, the so-called "war to end all wars" led to countless more wars even as the final shots were being fired.
The day of remembrance is always held on November 11, regardless of the day. of the week
History lesson aside, many people may be wondering what is actually open on Veterans Day. Unlike other national holidays, it is business as usual at many establishments.
What's open and what's not?
Open
Some stores may have reduced hours, but should be open. This includes stores like Walmart and Target; it doesn't make sense for them to close on a day when most people are not at work.
In terms of discounts, neither Walmart, Costco no Target have discounts for veterans.
Closed
Paid street parking is free on Federal holidays. Some public transportation operates on reduced service, especially commuter routes. Others may operate on regular or holiday schedules.
