Mertens confident Hazard will return to prominence at Real Madrid

The Napoli forward backs Eden Hazard to come good ahead of Belgium's World Cup qualifiers

Belgium's Dries Mertens believes national team mate Eden Hazard's "incredible mentality" will see him succeed at Real Madrid.

Hazard has failed to make an impact since joining Madrid from Chelsea in the summer of 2019, with a constant string of injuries stopping the Belgian forward from reaching the dizzying heights of his career at Stamford Bridge.

To make matters worse for the 30-year-old winger, he is being kept out of Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti's team by in-form youngster Vinicius, who has 9 goals and 7 assists in 16 games in all competitions this season.

But Mertens expects Hazard to bounce back at Madrid. Both players are currently at Belgium camp ahead of the Red Devils World Cup Qualifying fixtures against Belarus and Wales, with Roberto Martinez's men needing just one point from either of those games to secure their ticket to Qatar.
