Just like for all other holidays, retailers are promoting their discounts on products for Black Friday earlier and earlier each year. Several retailers have already begun hyping their Black Friday sale prices well before the official 26 November shopping extravaganza.

This year though those discounts may not be as big as past years due to the supply chain issues and inflation caused by the covid-19 pandemic. Depending on the necessity of making that purchase some industry insiders are recommending holding off acquiring that prized item until after the holiday season.

What might be hard to find?

Due to supply chain disruption stores are having trouble getting some stock to their shelves. President Biden when speaking at a GM manufacturing plant in Detroit assured Americans that Walmart and Target have stocked up for the holiday season, “and they’ll have all the toys, food, and other items that shoppers are looking for.”

Those who are looking for the gaming consoles will want to take advantage of whatever deal, if any, they can find to have one under the Christmas tree. Manufacturers have had difficulty meeting demand for this desired item throughout the past year, which means there will be less incentive to lower the price much.

What are the best discounts?

The best discounts will be on toys and computers this Black Friday according to Adobe Digital Insights. The software company found that prices are down five percent from a year ago for computers as well nearly three percent for toys.

Retailers will be off loading last year’s toys to make room for new stock, if it arrives. However, shoppers may have difficulty find the hottest toys for Christmas this year, again thanks to the covid-19 pandemic throwing a wrench in the works of global supply chains. The silver lining to this frustration is those items that have been ordered by retailers are still on their way to stores. If they arrive after the holiday season shoppers may be able to pick them up on the cheap as the hype for them will have died down.

Which retailers are already lowering prices?

Several big-name retailers have already begun to announce lower prices on a range of wares they offer. Shoppers who are worried about having their Christmas list covered may want to get their shopping done earlier than normal this year to avoid lack of supply despite assurances that shelves will be stocked.

You’ll want to hold onto your receipts and confirm return policies in case the prices drop later on. Best Buy and Target have put into place price guarantees for early shoppers but restrictions apply.

Amazon Black Friday

The biggest retailer of them all outside of China announced in October that it is offering “Black Friday–worthy” early sales. According to the behemoth online retailer “epic deals can be found across every category,” and not just on must-have items and top brands but including products from small businesses and handmade artisans.

Best Buy Black Friday

Starting in October, Best Buy began pre-Black Friday discount prices along with price matching guarantee. One catch on the guarantee is that between the Friday before Thanksgiving Day through the Monday after, competitors’ special Black Friday discounts are excluded.

Target Black Friday

Shoppers can take advantage of early deals at Target which is also offering a price-match guarantee, but you will want to check out the fine print. The offer only applies to select competitors and shoppers need to claim the price reduction within 14 days of the purchase. The guarantee will apply to products whose prices go lower on or before 24 December and are still in stock.

Walmart Black Friday

America’s second biggest retailer has revealed its Black Friday deals prior to the big shopping day again this year. Shoppers can find a range of special prices across the store’s inventory. Walmart has an everyday price-match guarantee in the continental US but it doesn’t apply to Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals.
