How many Golden Boy winners has FC Barcelona had?

Pedri González has been awarded the 2021 prize from Italian paper Tuttosport, but out of the 19 winners to date, how many have Barça provided?

Barcelona's Pedri named Golden Boy winner 2021

Barcelona’s latest wonder kid, Pedri González, has won the award for the 2021 Golden Boy.

Pedri: Barça's latest Golden Boy

Ahead of the Ballon d’Or ceremony - which we’ll be bringing you live on Monday 29 November - Italian newspaper Tuttosport has named their Golden Boy winner. This is the prize awarded to the best under-21 player across Europe according to the paper.

Despite the much publicised issues at the Catalan club, troubles that saw the end of the Messi era there, the young Spaniard gave some sparkling performances for both Barça and Spain’s national team. Other contenders for the individual title were Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood, Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham and Jamal Musiala, who has stepped up to the mark at Bayern Munich.

Pedri has been touted in Barcelona as the next big thing but his star showings against the likes of Juventus in the Champions League (the 0-2 victory in Turin) and his contribution in the 2-3 win away to Athletic ensured he attracted the gaze of a much wider audience.

The world is his footballing oyster.

Previous Golden Boys

The Golden Boy award began in 2003 and of the 19 winners to date, Pedri becomes just the second Barcelona player to take the title. The other, a certain young Argentine in 2005, went on to do rather well.
