When is the 2021/2022 Champions League Round of 16 draw taking place?

European soccer's premier club competition is heading into the knockout stages, with the draw in just under a week's time.

European soccer's premier club competition is heading into the knockout stages, with the draw for the second round on 13 December in Nyon, Switzerland.

The Champions League Round of 16 draw will be held on Monday 13 December at 6.00 a.m. ET and 3.00 a.m. PT, which is noon local time in Nyon, Switzerland where the UEFA headquarters are located and where the draw is held.

The first legs of the round of 16 games will be held on 15/16/22/23 February, with the second legs on 8/9/15/16 March.

The draw for the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final is on Friday 18 March.

Champions League final

The Champions League final will be held on 28 May 2022, at the Krestovsky Stadium in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

What teams are in the Champions League Round of 16?

The following teams have qualified for the knock-out stages of the Champions League with the runner-up in Group F to be resolved on Thursday night after Atalanta-Villarreal was snowed-off on Wednesday in Bergamo.

Group winners

Group A: Manchester City

Group B: Liverpool

Group C: Ajax

Group D: Real Madrid

Group E: Bayern Munich

Group F: Manchester United

Group G: Lille

Group H: Juventus

Runners up

Group A: PSG

Group B: Atlético Madrid

Group C: Sporting Lisbon

Group D: Inter Milan

Group E: Benfica

Group F: Villarreal or Atalanta

Group G: RB Salzburg

Group H: Chelsea

In the draw the group winners will be drawn against the runners-up. Teams from the same group or same country cannot be drawn against each other in the round of 16. The group winners will play the second leg at home.

Where is Nyon anyway?

Nyon is a small town on the north bank of Lake Geneva, where UEFA has its headquarters. It's 25 kilometres north east of Geneva city centre; since the 1970s it has been part of the greater Geneva metropolitan area.

The UEFA headquarters were opened in 1999.
