In one of the more exciting match ups of the whole season it will be No. 1 vs No. 2 in the AFC West.

Kansas City Chiefs vs Los Angeles Chargers

It's time for "Thursday Night Football" as we head into week 15 in the NFL. This week sees a match up that could very well be the game of the season between two of the best teams in the AFC West. The Kansas City Chiefs (9-4) will face up against the Los Angeles Chargers (8-5) in what could ultimately be the division title decider. At the moment, Kansas City will be considered favorites on the back of a six game winning streak. They are also a game ahead of the second placed team in their division, who happens to be the Chargers.

Both of these teams can feel confident in the knowledge that they have excellent, young quarterbacks. Patrick Mahomes is the NFL's half-a-billion-dollar man and while he has struggled at times this year, he has begun to come into his own in recent weeks. On the other side is Justin Herbert whose arm has been nothing short of astonishing of late. In just his second pro season, Herbert has displayed some hyper-accurate deep passing. If there is a player who can go toe-to-toe with Mahomes, it's him. Even with a loss, the Chargers will remain in a playoff spot, however, one can imagine that they won't be looking at losing as an option.

The Chargers are looking for a repeat

Having already beaten the Chiefs once this year the Chargers will be brimming with confidence. It was back in week 3 when they bested the Chiefs in a 30-24 win in which they committed 0 turnovers compared to Kansas City's four. Justin Herbert continues to have a strong second campaign in the NFL, however, one gets the feeling that he will need some help from the skill positions if they are to get a similar result this time. Where team news is concerned, Keenan Allen missed last week's game due to covid-19, while running back Austin Ekeler was sidelined in the very same game with a knee injury. The Chargers will have hope, however, as  head coach Brandon Staley has expressed confidence that both should be available to play. If that is the case they will undoubtedly provide Herbert with additional fire power to do some damage against a Kansas City defense that has played extremely well in recent weeks.

The Chiefs are a tough team to beat

If there is one thing that Kansas City has given a tutorial in, it's defense. The Chiefs have allowed 17 points or fewer in every game of their six-game winning streak. Indeed, they have allowed just nine points in three consecutive games. That being said, one can expect a different scene when they come against Herbert and his high voltage Chargers. If the Chiefs are to emerge victorious, Patrick Mahomes will need to carry the offense from start to finish. Performances like that against the Raiders when he orchestrated a 48-point win will be necessary if the Chiefs are to maintain their current form. As the No. 3 seed in the AFC playoff race entering Week 15, the Chiefs face a Chargers team that is the best Wild Card team.
