Leeds United join the final race to sign Weston McKennie

Leeds United's situation is not ideal in the Premier League - they sit in 16th place with the same amount of points and a record of 3W-7D-8L. Their manager, Marcelo Bielsa, needs to revert the situation quickly and he is aware that players need to arrive during the winter transfer window if they don’t want to face relegation.

McKennie is a priority

According to The Sun, Weston McKennie could fix many of the problems that the Whites have in the midfielder, but his high cost could prevent the deal from being reached. Leeds is aware that the relationship between the player and Juventus is not the best, but the Serie A side won’t let him go on the cheap.

According to transfermarkt, his value during the winter window will be of $27.5 million - too high for Leeds, who are battling not to be relegated as the halfway point approaches. So far this season, McKennie has made 17 appearances for Juventus across all competitions and he has scored twice.

Also the team managed by Marcelo Bielsa would have to fight with other Premier League sides keen on signing the 23-year-old. Tottenham is another club that could pay his price tag and sign him on a permanent deal because their manager, Antonio Conte, has spoken highly of his qualities in the past.
