Toni Kroos has better things to do than watch Barça games
Ahead of the semifinals of the Spanish Super Cup game Wednesday, the Real Madrid player said he hasn't paid much attention to the enemy team Barcelona.
On Wednesday, January 12, lifelong rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid will face each other in the semifinals of the Spanish Super Cup. Ahead of the El Clásico game, Madrid player Toni Kroos played it cool.
The last time the two teams met, Real Madrid claimed their victory over Barcelona, 2-1. Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman was fired just a few days later. Since then, Xavi Hernandez has taken over, but Barcelona still didn't manage to make it into the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League. While Real Madrid took off, Barcelona dropped to the Europa League.
Kroos' snarky comments
When asked in a press conference what differences he saw between Koeman's Barcelona team and Hernandez', Toni Kroos simply said, "I have better things to do." The German player mentioned that it would be difficult to predict who will play, but that they have several top-quality players. Though he probably doesn't need to worry much about Barcelona as far as La Liga standings, considering their rivalry, his comments probably struck a nerve.
The winner of the game on Wednesday will claim their ticket to the Spanish Super Cup Final and will play the winner of the Atlético Madrid vs Athletic Club semifinal. El Clásico kicks off today at 2 p.m. ET (8 p.m. CET).
