Tom Brady apparently unaware of Eagles fans' grudge
Tom Brady’s a sore loser and the Eagles fans remain bothered by that fact, but Brady says he had no idea of that and that he “tries to be a good sport”.
2018 feels like a different world compared to where we are now. There was no pandemic, Tom Brady was still with the Patriots, and the Eagles won a Super Bowl (and beat Tom Brady).
It feels so long ago when you put it that way, right? Still, it is apparently not long enough ago for some Eagles fans to get over what happened after the game.
Tom's temper tantrums
It’s no secret that Tom Brady is a sore loser (the very few times he actually loses). We excuse his temper tantrums because he’s the “GOAT” but honestly, not shaking Nick Foles’ hand after losing to the Eagles in Super Bowl LII is really unsurprising behavior considering his other outbursts (throwing tablets, cursing out referees, and chasing, yelling, and throwing things at his own teammate for picking him off in practice…to name a few).
It wasn’t just in the Super Bowl though. When the Bucs played the Bears in 2020, the Bears and Nick Foles pulled off another win over Tom Brady’s team, and again, Brady wasn’t there to shake Foles’ hand.
Brady tries to be a good sport
When a reporter asked Brady if he was aware that Eagles fans remain a bit peeved about his refusing to shake hands with Foles, he laughed and said, “no, I’m not.”
“I’ve shaken Nick’s hand plenty of times, though,” Brady said. “So I have a lot of respect for Nick. I try to be a good sport as best I can. I know it doesn’t always look like that, because sometimes I get a little pissed out there. But for the most part I try to be a good sport.”
Pretty words, and it’s true that he has shaken Foles’ hand at times…when his team won. It’s highly unlikely the Eagles will pull an upset over the Bucs on Sunday, but if they happen to, we will see if Brady really does know how to be a good sport and shake Jalen Hurts’ hand.
