Patriots vs. Bills summary: final | NFL Playoffs

Update:
Wild Card Weekend continues from Buffalo as the Bills host the New England Patriots from Highmark Stadium. In the two previous matchups the road team won.

Bills smoke Patriots

The Buffalo Bills smoked the the New England Patriots on a chilly playoff night from Highmark Stadium. Josh Allen and the Bills offense were perfect on the night, scoring a touchdown in each of their first seven drives.

AFC East rubber match

It was the third matchup between the AFC East rivals this season, with each team having won a game at their opponents house, but the Bills made sure to bring an end to that trend on Saturday night. Allen passed for 308 yards, while the run game combined for 174 yards.

The icy conditions in Buffalo looked likely to play an affect on the offenses, much like it did earlier in the year when these teams squared off in Western New York in Week 16. Allen shook off the cold to have one of his best nights of the season.

The Bills signal caller drove his side down the field on the first possession and hit Dawson Knox on a roll out to put the first points of the game on the board with an 8 yard touchdown. They would go on to score touchdowns on their next six possession following the opening drive.

Hyde's endzone interception deflated Pats

The narrative of the game could have been much different if the Patriots found the endzone on their first march down the field. Jones led an efficient drive that was cut short by a Micah Hyde sliding interception that deflated the Patriots. New England never bounced back from the early knockout blow from the Buffalo.

The Bills would stroll down the field yet again and Knox sealed the drive with an 11 yard TD reception for his second score of the first quarter.

Two more scores from Devin Singletary, one from four yards out, and another from 16 yards put the Bills up 27-3 going into the half. Buffalo had more than 300 yards of offense and were averaging 9.1 yards per play through the first two quarters.

Bills defense showing why they are a top unit in NFL

The onslaught continued in the third quarter, after a Mac Jones threw the second of his two interceptions. It was not a night to remember for the rookie, who went 24/38 for 232 yards, two touchdowns and two PIXK in his playoff debut.

Bufflao’s next drive was topped off by a deep ball from Allen to Emmanuel Sanders for a 34 yard touchdown. Sanders hadn’t played since the last game against the Patriots back in Foxborough in mid December, but announced he’s back with two catches for 36 yards and a touchdown.

Five TD night for Allen

Gabriel Davis and offensive tackle Tommy Doyle got in on the party scoring fourth quarter touchdowns to cap off an incredible night for the Bills offense. Allen ended the night with 308 yards and five touchdowns to go along with his 66 yards on six rushes.

The Bills are on to the next round of the playoffs, and will have the rest of the weekend to sit back, recover and await an opponent.

Allen to Sanders on the first possession out of the break.

as.com

TOUCHDOWN PATRIOTS!!!

Jones and the Pats finally punch it into the endzone with a 3 yard TD connection.

It's a little too late for the Pats.

as.com

Finally something positive on the offensive side of the ball. Jones hits Bourne on a 43 yard catch and run to get into Bills terriotry.

as.com

TOUCHDOWN BILLS!!!

Allen drops a dime on a long pass down the left sideline to Sanders for a 34 yard touchdown!!

I don't think I'm getting ahead of myself when I say this game is over with 8:48 to go in theh third quarter.

as.com

INTERCEPTION!!!

Jones' pass to Henry is picked off by Wallace, and just when it seemed like the Pats were going to give the Bills a go to start the third quarter, but the INT takes all the wind out of New England's comeback sails.

as.com

Four straight runs has the Pats inside of Bills territory, and the Pats are not abandoning the run just yet.

as.com

The Bills went for 300 total yards in that first half averaging 9.1 yards per play. That doesn't happen in the NFL. And it for sure doesn't happen in the playoff.

as.com

We are underway in the 3rd quarter. The Pats get the ball desperate for a score. It's make or break time for Jones and New England.

as.com

Jones is 10/16 for 106 yards.

Josh Allen is 12/16 for 172 and two touchdowns.

Allen also leads tall rusher with 63 yartds on 5 carries, while Singletary has 58 yards on 11 carries.

as.com

Singletary with the lightening to put the Bills up three touchdowns.

as.com

Singeltary with a bit of thunder and lightening. This was the thunder

as.com

Knox from out of no where.

as.com

Hyde with the game changing interception early in the first quarter.

as.com

Mr. Casual Josh Allen finding Knox in the endzone.

as.com

27-3 is the largest halftime decidit they have ever had in the playoffs. How will Belichick and New England respond?

as.com

FIELD  GOAL PATS!!!

Folk splits the uprights, and the Patriots have their first points of the night, and that takes us to the end of the first half.

Bills still lead 27-3 going into the third quarter.

as.com

Not like that... Jones is sacked after the fake spike from Jones, and everything is looking all too sloppy for the Pats right now.

as.com

Can the Patriots give themselves a sliver of hope in the second half with some points before the half?

as.com

Singletary with TD number 2.

as.com

Singletary with TD one.

as.com

TOUCHDOWN BILLS!!!

Singletary with TD number two!!! This time he does it from on a run to the outside and sprints to the pylon for a 16 yard TD.

This has been out of hand for a while, but it's in danger of getting embarrasing for the Pats tonight.

as.com

We are at the Two Minute Warning with the Bills on a 2nd and 1 coming out of the Break from the 16 yard line.

as.com

I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of the Belichick halftime speech that's awaiting the Patriots. Something needs to change at halftime, but the Bills are just being outcompeted at the moment, and that's not something that comes down to X's and O's

as.com

Where is the Patriots defense? Allen is doing whatever he wants out here. He hits Diggs for 45 yards, and the Bills are knocking on the door again with 2:24 to go in the half.

as.com

After a sack and a delay of game, the Pats will be forced to punt again. But that gives the Bills a chance to get one more score with 3:44 to go in the half.

as.com

Jones is dropped for the first time tonight! And that's just what Jones didn't want to see. It has been a frustrating night for the rookie. 3rd and long coming up

as.com

The Pats take over with 7 minutes to go, and this is a very delicate possession for New England. They need to wind some clock and get some points. But they can't leave Buffalo too much time to comeback and score again.

as.com

There it is... 21-0 thanks to Singletary taking it up the gut for a four yard TD. After a review the ruling on the field stands. The PAT is blocked, and that is the first thing that has gone against the Bills today, who have otherwise been perfect.

as.com

If this game goes 21-0 it might be good night New England. They have't shown they can stop Buffalo, and it's hard to make a comeback if you can't stop the other theam.

as.com

Here come the Bills again and Allen gets the Bills into Pats terriotry, breaking through an arm tackle and pickig up 8 yards. He's got 54 rushing yards in the first half.

as.com

The Pats go three and out to start the second quarter, and how much is that pick in the endzone of the Pats opening drive going to affect New England down the road?

as.com

This was a little more by the book from Allen to Knox.

as.com

Hyde with the pick in the endzone sparking the 14 point swing.

as.com

TOUCHDOWN BUFFALO!!!

Allen to Knox take 2!!!! This time they hook up for an 11 yard TD. The pick in the endzone spurred the 80 TD drive and what a swing that was.

Bills lead 14-0 with 40 seconds to go in the 1st Quarter.

as.com

When he's not doing it with his arm, he's doing it with his feet. On 3rd and 4 Allen takes it up the gut and gets the first down inside the redzone.

as.com

The Bills are driving yet again, and Allen is 7/9 for 9 yards.

as.com

Jones is picked in the endzone by Hyde, and that's a devestating blow for the Pats who marched down the field only to turn it over deep in Bills terriotry.

as.com

How did Bolden just drop that? Big plays will come few and far between and Boldin just squandered a chance at a big play.

as.com

Jones on the roll out hits Henry for a 30 yard reception, and Jones isn't just showing he's ready to make throws, but he is going to be a downfield threat tonight.

as.com

Jones with a pass on the second play of the drive, and that was a sight for sore eyes for Patriots fans, and the Pats running game alike.

as.com

How did Allen find Knox on that pass?

as.com

TOUCHDOWN BILLS!!!

Allen extending the play with his legs, skips a couple tackles and finds Knox in the back of the endzone.

IT LOOKED LIKE HE JUST THREW THAT AWAY!!!

Bils lead 7-0 with 9:45 to go in the first quarter.

as.com

The Bills are inside the 10, and while they want 7 they have to be thinking about what they will do if they face 4th down.

Kicking conditions are less than optimal.

as.com

Allen keeps it on the roll out facing 3rd and 3 and Allen is already showing that he's going to be a big part of the Bills game plan tonight.

as.com

Allen doing it with his legs this time!! He has a chance to be game changing with his legs. The cold is not going to allow him to dominate through the air, but his legs give the Bills offense a completely different dynamic

as.com

Allen goes to the air on the Bills' first play and hits Diggs for 9 yards. Not too bad on the first throw for Allen, who was worried about his ability to throw a spiral in this cold

as.com

We are underway from Highmark Stadium. The Bills get the ball first and will take it from the 30. How will the Allen look in the passing game tonight?

as.com

Pats grounded?

It's around 5 degrees in Buffalo tonight. Does that mean we are going to have another game where Jones throw for less than 5 passes? In the last game in Buffalo the Rookie went 2/3 for 19 yards.

as.com

You ever get cold looking at a picture or video? Watch this and bundle up.

as.com

The Bills Mafia are playoff ready

as.com

Will someone tell Dan Andrews it's cold in Buffalo?

The Pats coming into Highmark with the cozy drip

as.com

Jones the ROY?

Mac Jones went 352/521 for 3,801 yards, 22 TDs and 13 INTs in his rookie year. He was the least talked about rookie going into the first round of the draft, but he is the only one going to the post season.

as.com

Belichick on the road

For all the times that Bill Belichick has been in the playoffs with the Patriots, this will be his first time traveling on the road for a Wild Card game.

as.com

Bills rolling into post season.

The Bills won the AFC East and finished the regular season with a 27-10 win over the New York Jets. Josh Allen had 239 yard and two touchdowns in Buffllo’s last test run before the playoffs. The Bills went through a bit of a rough patch in the middle of the season, but since losing three of four in November and December, they have won four straight and are rolling into the playoffs.

as.com

AFC Rubber match

Hello everyone and welcome to Buffalo where the Bills and the Pat will play each other for the third time this season. In the previous two matchups the road team took the spoils. Can the Bills break that trend, or will it be the Pats winning away from home to take a step closer to the Super Bowl?
