Lakers 106 vs. 96 Nets summary: stats, scores, and highlights | NBA

The Los Angeles Lakers got a much needed 106-96 win on the road against the banged up Brooklyn Nets in a night where Anthony Davis returned from injury.

It was a two win Tuesday for the Los Angeles Lakers who got Anthony Davis back from injury after a lengthy stint on the sideline, and took down the Brooklyn Nets 106-96 at Barclays Center.

AD back for Lakers, KD out for Nets

Los Angeles wasted no time getting their big man on the scoreboard after missing five weeks with a sprained ACL. The first play of the game was a drawn up ally oop to give Davis his first bucket in over a month.

The Nets were without Kevin Durant, who remains sidelined with the same injury that Davis just came back from. It was a home game for Brookyn, which meant that they would be with out Kyrie Irving who cannot play in the state of New York because of COVID mandates in the state of New York.

Harden's 33 not enough for Nets

That left James Harden with the burden of leading the shorthanded Nets, but Harden’s 33, 12, and 11 were not enough for the Nets.

LeBron and the Lakers climbed out to an eight point lead at the end of the first quarter, and kept the Nets at an arms length the whole night.

Davis didn’t have a return to remember, scoring just eight points, but his impact on the defensive end altered the way Harden and the Nets attacked the iron.  Malik Monk come off the bench and had 22 points on 6-12 shooting from downtown to play second fiddle to LeBron.

The Nets got to within two points in the final few minutes of the third, but LA went on a run to take a double digit lead into the fourth quarter.

Turnovers nick Nets chances at a comeback

The Nets had trouble hanging on to the ball, turning it over 19 times, and giving up 27 fast break points including back to back steal and slams by LeBron to seal the win deep into the fourth.

The Lakers move to .500 on the year following their 24th win of the season, while the Nets drop to 29-18 and 12-12 at home this year.

LeBron finding Westbrook slashing, that was one of his six assists

as.com

Malik Monk did most of his damage from outside the arc, but this one came after a Nets turnover

LeBron had 33, none prettier than this ally oop

IT'S ALL OVER FROM BARCLAYS CENTER!!! Lakers win 106-96 in a game where they had contol from start to finish.

as.com

The Lakers take a timeout and it's time for coach Frank Vogel to bring out the subs for the final 100 seconds of the game.

as.com

Under 3 minutes to go and the Lakers lead by 15! It's just a matter of time now from Barclays.

as.com

The Nets continue to turn the ball over and that's not going to get them back in this game any time soon. They have 18 give aways tonight, many of which turned into points on the other end.

as.com

The Nets need to keep the ball out of LeBron's hands and force anyone else to beat them.

Only problem with that is they leave AD and Westbrook open if they focus in on LeBron too much.

as.com

LeBron with back to back steal and slams, and that might have just sealed this game. Lakers lead 100-87 with six minutes to go. The King has 31,7 and 6

as.com

Harden is back in the game and he's been stuck on 33 since about 5 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter.

as.com

LeBron sat out the first two minutes of the fourth quarter, and the Lakers went scoreless. The Nets couldn't take advantage scoring just two points in that time.

as.com

The Lakers have been on a 21-9 run since the Nets got within a basket early in the third. LA up 92-78 with 12 minutes to go.

as.com

MONK can't stop hitting threes, he is 6-9 from DT with 22 points off the bench. He's been crucial tonight, and off all the off season signings the Lakers made he might be the best one.

as.com

James had a heat check from 27 feet, but left it short. If that went in his next one might have been from half court.

as.com

LeBron on the pull up and he's feeling it. He has 12 in the quarter, and counting.

as.com

Monk with another 3 ball and he's got 19 points on 5-8 shooting from DT. Lakers lead is back up to double digits.

as.com

Harden might have 40 points by the end of the 3rd quarter. He's got 33 rigth now and there are still 5:21 to go in the quarter.

as.com

Bradley got T-ed up after Harden is fouled out a three point play and he's got the Nets to within 2 points.  The Nets are creeping back into this game after the Lakers have controled throughout.

as.com

Harden from downtown and the Nets trail by just 6. He's got 25 already.

as.com

Davis just picked up his fourth and he's headed to the bench with almost 8 to go in the third. His minutes will be limited, but it'll be because of foul trouble, not a lack of fitness

as.com

It's Mills giving Brooklyn a boost out of the halftime break. He's got the Nets within 6

as.com

We are back in play from Brooklyn. Who will step up for the Nets other than James Harden? How much time will AD get on his return to the hardwood?

as.com

Harden is not getting a whole lot of help tonight

as.com

Monk has 16 points off the bench including this dunk off the steal

as.com

LeBron flying high for the ally oop

as.com

AD IS BACK

as.com

LA heads to half with a comfortbale lead they built up at the end of the first quarter. Lakers lead 62-53 at half

as.com

Big two minutes for the Nets. They can get themselves back to within punching distance, or they could see the Lakers extend the lead to complicate things in the second half.

as.com

LeBron is getting to the basket any time he wants. Brooklyn has no one to contain James who is 6-9 from the field, many of those makes come from around the bucket

as.com

MONK with his 4th triple of the night, He has three more than the entire Brooklyn roster has

as.com

Aldridge hits the mid range jumper, and he's going to have to be one of the supporting cast for the Nets to step up tonight and the entire time KD is out.

as.com

Monk is heating up, and how big is he going to be? Not just tonight, but throughout the season. He can do a bit of everything including drop threes. He's 3/5 from downtown tonight.

If the Lakers make a deep run, it will be directly related to Monk's contriubtions to the Lakers Big 3.

as.com

It's strange to say, but in a period where KD is out and Kyrie can only play outside of New York Stats, at the moment Brooklyn might be looking forward to road games rather than home matches.

as.com

Harden started that quarter on the bench and LA went on a 9-4 run. His stint on the bench was short lived.

as.com

Brooklyn continutes to turn it over and LA continue to take advantage, The Nets have four TO's already

as.com

LA couldn't have drawn up a better play to welcome AD back

as.com

LeBron beats the buzzer to close the quarter and LA have their largest lead of the game.

Lakers have their largest lead of the night up 33-25

as.com

Anthony five points off the bench, and I don't care if he's lost a step Carmelo has one of the best off dribble jumpers in the game.

as.com

Harden going high of the crystal, and if you're the Lakers you have to let anyone else beat you, but James Harden. He is getting to the basket too easily and picking apart the LA D. He's got 15 of the Nets' 22,

as.com

Neither team has found their groove from downtown, Both teams have combined for 2/11 from behind the arc.

as.com

Davis not only doing in on the offensive end, he is such a presence down low. When he's not blocking shots he's affecting them. He just had a big one

as.com

Harden has the 8 of the first 12 Nets points. He hasn't had to carry the burden solo too much over the last few years but he is still capaable of winning games on his own. As I'm typing there goes another three for Harden!!!

as.com

ITS SHOWTIME FOR THE LAKERS!!! This time it's LeBron on the alley oop and the Lake Show looks like it's back.

as.com

Harden won't have that same luxury with his star teammates. He will have plenty of responsibility on his shoulders tonight.

as.com

AD with the first four points of the game, and how happy must LeBron be to have some of the scoring and rebounding load shared with Davis back.

as.com

Right off the bat the alley oop goes to Davis, and how long you think they were planning on opeing the game off with that since finding out AD was coming back tonight?

as.com

HERE WE GO!!! We are underway from the Barclays Center

as.com

Guess who's back
